Post can you differentiate?

Here's a nice question that I will put simply into 3 questions so that we can benefit from it.

Which is the most common cause of Mental Disability (previously known as Mental retardation) in children?

A-Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
B-Fragile X Syndrome
C-Down Syndrome

Which is the most common Inherited cause of Mental Disability?

A-Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
B-Fragile X Syndrome
C-Down Syndrome

Which is the most common cause of congenital Mental Disability?

A-Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
B-Fragile X Syndrome
C-Down Syndrome

I will post the answers later when everyone has had a chance to answer

Yes Osaaa you are correct.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is not a congenital disease, it's not inherited from an initial problem that the mom had before pregnancy. But it's the most common cause of Mental Dysfunction in overall.

Down's Syndrome is the most common cause as a congenital disease but not as INHERETED as most commonly down's patients are infertile thus the 21 gene is not transmitted nor inherited, but it's due to a mutation the occurs.

Fragile X Syndrome is the most common inherited one and the proof of that is that it even gets worse from generation to generation.

Hope you learned something

if you're interested in the topic then continue with me.

What will the fetomaternal labs show during pregnancy of a triosomy 21 baby?

Inhibin A, hCG, AFP and Estiol.

I have a mnemonic that helps me remember it. what's yours?

Yes, you are right
the way I like to remember it is by using the first letters of Hcg and Inhibin A. H&I.

put them together and they're HIGH "HI"

well, seems like you're doing a good job mnemonics help me alooooooooot to remember things. each person has different styles.
If I can give one advice, it's to NOT make a big deal out of kaplan. FA is the most important along with UWROLD.
