A 60-year-old male physician who is an internist has had a fernale patient for the last 20 years. Both lost their spouses several years ago. They start spending time together outside the office. The female patient wants to begin a sexual/romantic relationship with the phvsician.

a. "I can never do that with you, ever."

Its between A or D.
I would go with A) on the test! But D) is probably the right answer in real life.

PS. This has been discussed here before - Ethics; Romantic Doctor-Patient Relationship and there was a very good discussion regarding this topic!

Default A

The answer is 'A'. It's not 'D' because 'D' implies that there is a possibility of a romantic relationship if the patient changes her doctor putting the onus on the patient.
In real life a doctor can date his patient 2 years after he/she is not the patient's doctor anymore.

Yeah, I agree that D doesn't seem to be the right choice bc you are imploying that you will date the patient if he/she does something (like changing the physician in this case). I don't think it's ethically acceptable to suggest that "if" to the patient. I think the answers here are poorly written.
