Default genetics from Kaplan

im trying to go throuigh medical genetics from KLN but its so crazy.
DO we need to know about all the translocations(robertsonian) and the alternate and adjacent segregations n all? they make no sense to me.

and what about the chapter on gene mapping with all the LOD scores and theta values? i have nt seen any such questions in UW but im wodering why therez so much details on that if its not even high yield! does anyone know a better book to follow for genetics?

Hi, i still havent done my exam, but these stuff seem pretty low yield. I think it's good to concentrate on the FA information, and the main important things in kaplan videos which also appear in FA.

After finishing with the kaplan qbank i think some questions are super low yield there, and it seems like they are trying to make us think that we dont know anything so we take their live courses or any other thing they offer in their website. That is just my personal opinion.

Just think about the exam itself you have 326 questions totally, you might get around 5 questions in gentics, i really think that there are some other stuff they will ask you about which is higher yield then the LOD score (altough i wont lie - i know what the score means but thats it).

lol, thank u for sharing your opinion. I dont think its wise to spend a lot of time on these either! Its not in FA or UW and even DIT dsnt say a word about these, so must not be important i guess! but just wanted to see what other members of this forum think. U seem to be doing pretty well with your UW, as i just read in ur thread.
Are u studying FA only along with UW?

I am mainly going to do FA with UW, though im probably gonna revise some weak chapters in pathology from BRS, and maybe do a final review over pharmacology from the kaplan videos, Microbiology and immunology are also worth revising i think, FA doesnt give you a wide picture about it, and it's hard to memorize it, so maybe kaplan video review might be good for it aswell.
