Arrow 10 Weeks to go: Next 14days schedule

So the story repeats itself. I couldn't do anything these last 03 days.
I did not take an NBME today.
Did not even start with the study partner I planned to.

Now the schedule: (I go into full details coz this is what I refer back to keep track of my progress)
Finished so far:
FA: 1st read
KLN: 2nd read Micro with FA Virology, mycology, parasitology & about 30pgs of bacteriology.
UWorld: 44%
Kbank: 42%
Took UWSA1 2 weeks back: 3 digit equivalent 212.
Took Kaplan Simulated Exam today: Doesn't even give a 3 digit score. Only good thing... I realized I need to practice sitting at one place for hours.

Next 14 days plan:
11/06-21/06: 1 Block of UW & KBank each
11/06: Review KapSimTest Block 1;
Med Imp Bacteria = 22pgs
12/06: Review KapSimTest Block 2;
Med Imp Bacteria = 28pgs
13/06: Review KapSimTest Block 3;
Med Imp Bacteria- 21pgs + Review Qs
14/06: Review KapSimTest Block 4;
Microbial Genetics & Drug Resistance - 26pgs
15/06: Review KapSimTest Block 5;
Microbial genetics & Drug Resistance - Remaining 5pgs + Review Qs + any pending Micro.
16/06: Review KapSimTest Block 6;
Start Pharm 2nd read:

Ph'kinetics (15pgs), Ph'dynamics (08pgs) = 23pgs + Review Qs
17/06: Review KapSimTest Block 7;
ANS Pharm: Gen, Cholinergic, Adrenergic = 22pgs
18/06: Review wrong/ marked Qs UW 1st 3 tests;
Finish ANS Pharm (08pgs) + Review Qs,
Cardiac & Renal Pharm (15pgs) = 23pgs
19/06: Review wrong/marked Qs Kbank 1st 3 tests;
Finish Cardiac & Renal Pharm = 19pgs + Review Qs
20/06: Review wrong/ marked Qs UW next 3 tests;
CNS Pharm = 22pgs
21/06: Review wrong/marked Qs Kbank next 3 tests;
Finish CNS Pharm (07pgs) + Review Qs,
Antibacterials (15pgs) = 22pgs
22/06: Review wrong/ marked Qs UW next 5 tests;
Finish Antimicrobials (13pgs) + Review qs,
Drugs for Inflammation & Related Disorders (25pgs) +Review Qs = 38pgs
FA Rapid review Section
23/06: Review wrong/marked Qs Kbank next 5 tests;
Fa Rapid Review & any Flash cards
Finish Pharm (Blood, Endo, Anti cancer, Immuno) = 34pgs + Review Qs
24/06: Take another Self Assessment, Now I've not decided which one. Maybe UWSA2 or an offline NBME 5/6.

Daily Time Allocation:
QBank: 1 block 3hrs (1hr test+ 2hr Review) = 6hrs
Text Reading: 15pgs/hr = 2hrs per day
Additional Review Old Ques Blocks = 1 hr
TOTAL: 9 hrs/day

Target:
Try to put in 9hrs everyday
Stick to this schedule this time.. God knows, that has been difficult enough.

Default Update Day 1

Finished Day 1:
1 block of UW & KBank with review.
Reviewed an old block I hadn't over the weekend.
12/22 targeted pages of Bacteriology. but that's not so bad considering I had not read a single page in the 3 days preceding that.

Target Day 2:
1 block KBank & UW
Review 1st block of Kaplan Sim Test.
Medically Imp bacteria Backlog 10pgs + 28pgs target earlier planned for the day = 38pgs how do I do it?
Print Notes from UWSA1. today is last day of subscription.

Angry Update Day 2

I slept so late last night. By the time I finished my eyes were loaded like lead.

Finished Day 2:
  • 1 Block UW & KBank with review.
  • Printed notes of UWSA Blocks that I had taken earlier.
  • Read Blood Pharm with an SP. This SP thing is not working for me. Did only 9pgs in ~2hrs & then the rest of schedule got ruined. I slept late & woke up today so late that even today's schedule is at risk.
Maybe I should study on my own till someone whose style matches mine comes along.

Backlog:
  • Review 2 Blocks of Kaplan Sim test
  • Micro 38pgs of Bacteriology
  • making those path flash cards of Forgettables.

Target Day 3: Basically get back on track.
  • 1 block UW & KBank with review.
  • Review at least 1 block Kap SimTest
  • At least 25 pgs of Micro.
  • Try to start on those Flash cards.

Unhappy Update Day 3

All right!
As I had thought my schedule for Day 3 was fried, thanks to the upset of Day 2 & the fact that I was chatting with some people about getting into clinicals and trying to find flash cards & print them.

Finished Day 3:
1 block of UW & KBank with review... Yeah that's it.

Backlog: Entire chap of Bacteriology (60pgs)
Review Blocks of Kap Sim test which I took on Sunday but didn't review

Target Day 4:
1 block UW & Kbank
20 pgs Bacteriology.

What am I gonna do? I am in a positive state of panic. I booked my exam date yesterday & I'm going only downhill with my prep .

Hi! Don't be too hard on yourself. We tend to over estimate our capabilities when doing schedules. You should have seen the forum last May. Everyone's running behind sked. LOL!

It's bad when you make goals and can't keep them. You may lose trust in yourself when it comes to accomplishing things. The solution is: make 2 columns of things to do.

1st column - realistic; things you know you can finish
2nd column - "perhaps" goals; things you may or may not finish but will try

I got this from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Covey back in college. Good luck!

Default Thanks

Thanks @d_wiqed.
I'm panicking coz I have been resetting my schedule to smaller & smaller targets & then I go & mess it up week after week . I was achieving more when I had tougher schedule .
I've been avoiding studying or maybe I'm psyched more now because there is a fixed date to look at from here .

Yep, that's normal. Step 1 is a pretty long prep... You can't expect yourself to be 100% productive all the time. You'll have highs and lows. You have to pace yourself. Be careful of getting burned-out early.

The last 2 weeks is when you push, push, and push yourself until you burn-out ( but you still keep on pushing until exam day). LOL!
Good luck!

Ya its very motivating despite so many attempts you make schedule and try to stick to it. its great but dr d_wiqed is right don't be too harsh on your self at times its good to take rest so that you regain energy to fight with more force. good luck

Listening

see this happened to me as well...and very badly..u know that..since then i gave up making refined schedules that are quiet unrealistic and add to your stress...i don't study on weekends still..and i have often those rainy days...with lot of pessimism in me..STILL m not giving up..i try to study everyday even if itz jus 1 chap ..1 block of questions ..relax ..and set bigger goals..as in like complete pharma till so and so..so that on some days u study more and on some u can have a vent...all the best,,,,and yeah even SP thing didn't worked for me since long ago now..i can't study with a person but yeah u can keep track how far u finished with someone...

Default Update Day 4

@d_wiqed @DefeatTheBeast @DrNitinArya @docmfn
Thank you all!
I was really in the dumps this morning. That is not at all normal for me. I am pretty calm as a person.
The dark chocolate suggestion of @docmfn worked well & I decided to just lay back a bit today.
Now I think I'm overloaded with chocolate & in some state of high but Better high than low .

Finished Day 4:
Surprisingly I'm done with today's UW & Kbank quota.
+ forced myself to do ANS flash cards.
Now I still have an hour before sleeping time so I'll try to do about 10pgs of Micro.

Target Day 5: Mainly, try to continue in this high spirit
1 block UW & KBank.
Finish about 20pgs Micro
If possible or if bored of sitting at my table: Flash cards
Review the pending tests if I can bear to do it..

Smile Update Day 5

Updating a little early today because i'm done with the question banks today already . I didn't do anything else but there is about 2 hrs before I sleep so I'll try to read in that time.

Finished till now:
1 Block of UW & Kbank & review. Although the scores today were much less than what I was getting over the last two weeks .
Was able to finish 10pgs of reading before hitting the sack last night. So that's a plus .

Target for tomorrow:
1 block of UW & Kbank.
Whatever is left of Bacteriology. I was supposed to finish today but then sh!t happens.

Taking time off yesterday I figured a lot of things that don't work for me. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels that way so I'll post these on another thread to see what you guys think.

And then I'll be back to my books.

Default Update Day 6

Frankly reviewing Qbanks is boring! .
I was supposed to start Pharm 2nd Read today but still not finished with Micro . I was able to do about 20pgs of Micro before sleeping yesterday. So that is some solace .
I'm running behind my schedule by a total of about 4 days. I hope I can make up well in time . The anxiety seems to be trickling back in. I'll try not to slip too low this time. I hope.

I'm done with ~60% UW & ~55% KBank but I'm just crossing 65% still in both. Is it Ok at this stage? This is my first pass of both. Any ideas/ opinions please?

Finished Today:
1 Block UW & KBank, review of KBank still remains. Will try to finish that tonight.
Medically Imp Bacteria & Review Qs of the chap.
About 50 factoids from Immuno flash cards. I seriously think I need to verify these facts, some of them are not right I think. .

Target Day 7: Continue the good work of today
1 Block UW & KBank with Review. .
Medical genetics & Drug resistance (31pgs) + Review Qs.
If time permits then Review the huge backlog of the 7 blocks of Sim Test. I think I'll just go through the wrong ones for now.

Smile Update Day 7

Took Sunday off for Father's Day! Made a lot of long distance calls so that my family does not forget that I'm still alive & it made me feel better to hear all those familiar voices !

Finished Today:
1 Block of UW & KBank with really bad scores & did not finish reviewing KBank yet.
Officially now I'm 5 days behind my schedule but I'm still in high spirits . Guess I was missing my folks all this time.
Read about 6 pages from Micro.

Pharm is killing my scores as is Anat . Physio never picked up. I just want to finish these Qbanks now.

Target for tomorrow:
Cover today's pending stuff.
Finish Micro.
Then 1 block of UW & KBank & possibly review.

I guess it's no use answering without reading! So I need to dedicate more time to that.

P.S. The flash cards from Quizlet turning out to be pathetic for immuno & bchem.

Cool Update Day 8

Today was one of the better days.
I did nothing else but study. .

Finished Today:
Micro Finally! 3 days late but I'm done.
Reviewed Kbank block from yesterday.
1 block each of UW & KBank with review. Marginally improved on KBank but my performance has gone down in UW .
Before going to sleep: Try to start with 10pgs Gen Pharm.

Tomorrow's Target:
Cover previous backlog: Pharm: Gen + ANS (30+pgs); Kap Sim Test review if possible.
1 Block UW & Kbank with Review.
Flash cards if I feel bored or distracted.

Need to go shopping, kitchen's running out of ready to eat items. So I guess I'll take that break in a day or two. .

Back to the books then!

Thumbs Down Update Day 9

Slow day again! But something came up at home!

Finished today:
1 block UW & KBank. Still need to review UW!
12 pgs of Pharm!

Target Tomorrow: Go faster, waste lesser time!
1 block UW + KBank & review.
Finish ANS Pharm.
If I've time left I'll plan ahead for the rest of the day!
Wanted to finish Pharm by Sat but I don't think that's happening

I'm in a Numb State! WHY? ? ? Just not responding the way I do to anything.

Post Update day 11

Slow day! Was trying to apply for CS. Why am I so confused these days?

Finished today:
1 Block UW
ANS

Reviewed nothing. Did not do Kbank Block.
Too many Power cuts Thunderstorm

Target tomorrow & day after:
Finish Pharm Read.
If Time permits: Review todays blocks.
23/06: RR section of FA
24/06: NBME 5 & 6 offline.

Will try not to spend too much time online!
So may be I'll come only to update next fortnight's schedule.

Let's see... this forum is addicting!

Default Update day 12-14

Funny weather! Instead of studying 9hrs I'm sleeping 9 hrs.
Very indifferent about schedule backlog.
So took Sat & part of Sun off but don't feel refreshed.

Did some Pharm. Finished Cardiac & renal Pharm on Day 12 & then I chilled.

Today:
Did NBME 5 offline, got 158/200. I had 212 in UWSA 1 4 weeks back . I am really confused. Either the key I have is wrong or I'm still too unprepared after all this time. Made silly mistakes & didn't read at least 5 questions properly.

I finished all of it in just over 2 hrs LOL! I should have used some extra seconds to read those questions.

Now it is just 8 weeks to go. I will have to get my act together somehow. (I don't know how to get my momentum back ). Still the schedule has to be made so I have some framework to work against.

Posted next fortnight's schedule here:
8 weeks to go: next 2 weeks plan
