Unhappy Fall in NBME scores in 6 days

Hey guys, i took nbme 11 on 5th june without completing my subject reviews and scored a 238. Today i took nbme 12 eith much better prep and got a 231.

what happened?? i am just numb and clueless..... i have improved on those areas in which i was week in last nbme but today new weak areas cropped up.
I got fatigued during the exam and misread around 4 questions.....
i am getting mad at myself!!!

what score should i expect?? what does this fall tell.....

m taking nbme 13 on 15th june, nbme 7 on 17th june and the main exam is on 19th

Keep working on your weak areas after each NBME. You keep repeating this process until the exam.

Your scores are reassuring so dont worry, you still have time to increase alot more.

I don't know what your target score is, but i think you can increase your level up to the 240's range on your exam.

Keep at it, and always remember that late in ur prep it's more a game of nerves and confidence than it is of information (because you probably know all what you need to know by now).

That's ok. My friend took nbme 13 online and scored 235. The next day, she took nbme 11 online and scored 245. (3 weeks ago, she scored 240 on nbme 12.) As you can see in her case, nbmes can differ but are still around the same range.

In short, expect your score to fall around 230's-240's. I heard nbmes have a standard deviation of +/-6. But of course, realistically speaking, our score can be as far as 2 SDs (+/-12 pts) from the nbme prediction.

After taking nbme 13 (what they say is the toughest nbme), you'll see the range of where your score will be.

Just be confident on the fact that you're more likely to get a 99 (in the old scoring system). Don't obsess on a certain score. I've seen an exam experience where 1 week before the exam, someone scored 231 in an nbme and still got a 240++ in step 1 (I think it was coolfire??).

My exam is on June 20 -- the day after yours. LOL!

At this point, we can only hope for the best.

It was in the official usmle website before it was taken down. The old 99 starts at 228.
