Neuro paramedian arteries?

where are the paramedian arteries? are they the arteries that come off the basilar artery to supply the medial pons? this is in regard to the paramedian artery ruptures (duret hemorrhages) that you get in uncal herniation. thanks

Default yes

Yes, you are correct. The paramedian arteries are those that branch directly from the basilar artery and penetrate into the substance of median pons. They are liable to be teared off when there's uncal herniation and they may look like short linear flame shaped hemorrhages on gross postmortem pathology.
