Smile Sanusmle Exam Experience

i got 236/84. i am an IMG.

Preparation time: prepared with my internship. so if u r free i think 6 mnths r enough.
nbme scores:
nbme 12: 228 (1.5 months before)
nbme 11: 245 (1 months before)
nbme 7 : 242 (15 days before)
nbme 13: 242 (7 days before)

poor correlation with real exam!!

i read...
Kaplan for all the subjects. I read it during my internship. total reading twice till the completion of internship.
Goljan: pathology i read general pathology from Goljan exclusively. for systemic patho i read it from kaplan. annotated things from goljan into kaplan
first aid: i didnt read.

my experience about the exam:
contents: i felt to secure more marks u should read kaplan cover to cover. and thats where first aid comes.
revision is the key.

next time i would do:
read first aid.
set up high target and chase it till the end!
take care about my silly mistakes

real exam:
nice!
its not unbearable to sit for 8 hrs and give exam!
took 2 15 minutes breaks and small 2-3 minutes break after every block
but honestly i dont know what happened in my real exam? as i felt i have done my best. better than nbme's!? and u all can see my score!!

need ur help:
i want to know honestly how my score is? i m not pretending to be modest. seniors told me nowadays i have to be above 240. anyways i m now going to work super hard on my ck score. i know a person with 230s in both steps. he didnt get residency this year. this adds to my anxiety. so i bag ur help.
Thanks a lot for ur support! i have been silent viewer of this forum.

oh yes sorry i used uworld. did it offline as during my internship i couldnt have a fixed amount of spare time. then during my last 1.5 mnths i did online uworld once again. timed mode. scored 79%. two times is enough i think. u can go through only incorrrect ones second time if u wish. it is important as a learning tool. note every new info u see in uworld. u say u r n img without clinical experience. i share the same status. so is 236 a competitve score for people like us?

Your score is great, with a couple months of USCE you'll be gold.
With a CK score higher than your already high step 1 score, you might not even need USCE.
However, it doesnt hurt to be on the safe side.

Congrats on the great score, I would kill to get that score.

That's a good score for sure, and being honest here! Yes, USCE and a good CK score would further enhance your chances, but even then your score isn't bad. I'm assuming you're done with internship, so you'd have more time for CK? About people scoring in 230's and not matching, well you'll see lots of IMGs with much lesser scores who DO match. So we can't overgeneralize. If I were you, I'd be very happy with myself. Congratulations, and here's to even better in CK! G'luck!

thanks! i did some of the histopatho and ct/mri from webpath. but i remained very focused because there are more then 600 photographs. and everything is not important. i did webpath for brain CT basically. MRIs are not that commonly asked. for thorax and abdo ct uworld and kaplan are enough. i did renal, cardiac, endo from webpath.

search webpath in google u will find it.
