Default Effect modification vs confounding

Effect modification in bio-statistics deals with the homogeneous null hypothesis. This situation can arise when an exposure will modify the outcome for a variable sex for example by more than 10 percent across strata.
a simpler method paper is here:

A more methodological paper is here:

Confounding can happen when a variable may be bias and affect a study or results so that there is an increase or decrease by 10 percent over strata for an potential variable with respect to the outcome.
