Default When can i take NMBE assessment ?

Hello everyone,

I finished second reading of Step 1 materials.
( In first reading, i review all materials from Kaplan except path from Golian ... just reading ... 2 months ...
then, in second reading ... i studied kaplan again + First Aid + USMLe Rx + UW " offline ")
Now, at this point can i take NMBE assessment to evaluate myself or is it preferred to take NMBE couple weeks before the exam ? and which form of NMBE should i take now?

Last review in my plan will takes about 2 months and focusing in online UW online + First Aid only ...

Thanks in advance

Please notice that I haven't done the exam yet, but it's very close from now.

I would recommend taking 2 NBME's online ( as you will see that the offline precentage can be very different from the actual score).
I would say take : one NBME about 1 month before the exam and the 2nd NBME about 2 weeks before the exam.
This in order to evaluate your progress and to work on week areas.
Some people like to do another NBME few days before the exam, i personally think it can stress you out and my be maleficent.

If you feel that you are ready and you have covered all the material and you are confident with your knowlagde i would recommened to take an NBME nowdays and maybe do the exam closer, i have personally done it i moved my exam 3 weeks earlier, looking backwards i think it was good decision as if you give too much time you exhaust your self and usually dont study as well and as beneficial as you would have if you felt that the exam is 1 month from now (1 month is alottttt of time).

Anyhow about the NBME's i would say that the most recommended ones to do are 7,11,12,13.

UWSA, are usually taken insted of the NBME's or done before the NBME or on the last week to boost your confidence.
The reason they are done so close to your exam is because they usually over predict by 10-20 points and sometimes even more - so as you see it's a good confidence boost.
I personally have not taken any, and im not planning to if one costs 30$ i would prefer investing it in another NBME.
Another reason that i didnt like the UWSA is the fact that it's from the UW so if you have done 2000 questions from there your pretty much familiar with the question types, although in your case you did the UW offline so maybe you can take one UWSA to get some percentages of the different subjects.
Dont get me wrong though, some people do only the UWSA and go and take their exams, i would call it "la belle indifference" As the overprediction usually gives them good feeling (some are not aware of it aswell).
