Dandy-Walker malformation is characterized by agenesis or hypoplasia of the cerebellar vermis, cystic dilatation of the fourth ventricle, and enlargement of the posterior fossa.

Arnold chiari malformation consists of a downward displacement of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum

basically:
Dandy has a big posterior fossa due to cerebellar degeneration and ventricular dilation while Arnold has a small posterior fossa resulting in a cerebellar tonsillar herniation and compression of the ventricle causing a hydrocephalus .

And Dandy would cause Hydrocephalus too right?

it can also associate hydrocephalus secondary to the cystic dilation of the 4th ventricle,, not an obstructive one as in arnold

Another point is that Arnold chiari 2 makes you susceptible for syringomelia

Dandy walker: (big posterior fossa, agenesis or hypoplasia of cerebellum, and cystic dilatation of the fourth ventricle, and it may lead to spina bifida and hydrocephalus).

Chiari malformation:

Chiari 1: (small posterior fossa, overcrowding of the structures, downward displacement of cerebellar tonsils, associated with Ehler's Danlos)

Chiari 2: (small posterior fossa, upward displacement of cerebellar vermis, downward displacement through foramen magnum of medulla and tonsils, associated with meningmyelocele in the thoracolumbar region, and syringoyelmyelia) .
