Default Did NBME 5, need advice

Okay guys this might seem like an extremely dumb thread but any advice would be appreciated.

My exam in in exactly 31days. This is the first NBME i took. I was supposed to take an online NBME around now but this NBME thing scares me so much, i wanted to take one offline first to desensitize myself and see if im ready for it. Plus i did not want to waste my money on an online version if i was going to do terrible.

Ok so i got about 24 questions wrong in the offline version which gives an estimate score of about 241-246 ( i guess??).
But the the thing is I had to guess on so many questions and then those WTF questions!! Is this what all NBMEs are like and you end up guessing on many questions?
PS i hear NBME 5 is the easiest of all the NBME's, is that so?? If it is,, then im sure it overpredicted my score a lot

So i think i should take an online NBME tomorrow. Im ready right??
Im thinking of taking NBME 12 becasue 7 is too old and outdated now some people say and 13 is new but i have not heard a lot of feedback on that one so i think 12 might be the best option for me. Any advice on that?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Answers on all your questions will be provided Tomorrow by doing NBME ONLINE. Even on exam people are getting ready to see 5-10 wtf questions per block. We have to adapt to it

Hi man, 24 wrong questions is excellent!
forget about easy or hard NBME, in every thing there is a matter of luck but getting 180 questions right is not only luck! Also a hard NBME for one can be easy for another.

Obviously dont get over confident now, 1 month before your exam is too soon and you have alot of potential

Its impossible to know all the answers to all the questions and even when you are saying that you have guessed im sure you mean, you had some idea about the answers and you guessed between 2-3 possible answers which means...you know.

I would recommend doing the NBME 12, it's fair, with only few tricky questions (in my opinion), pretty straightforward exam.

I have done 12, and i think im gonna do 13 next in few days!
I might do 7 offline - it's so over processed i think all of it's questions were deleted in the real exam...
Btw i like to watch score progression and i have noticed that people get higher scores as they closer to their exam with no relation to which NBME they have done, again probably there is observation BIAS by me saying that, but thats what i think!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice modesty.
Yes you're right. The guess is always so tough between 2 options ..LOL.. but i guess thats the same for everybody.
Please do let us know about NBME 13 and what you thought of it.
Your exam is pretty close isnt it? Good luck with the NBME and the prep

Exam is in 13 days from today!
As much as i would like to say that i need more time, to cover that or that, i just want to get over with it
Thats the beauty about medicine, no matter how much you study you can never cover it all - for me it's a never ending challenge

Hi, do standard paced. During the exam you can close the broswer any time and take your break, do it between blocks but when you start a block you have to finish it in 1 hour, you can take a break in the midddle by closing the broswer.

The extended feedback allows you to see which questions you got wrong only! But without showing you what is the right answer, but you can gooole and find the right answer. I would pay extra to get it...good luck

So i Did NBME 12 online and got 640=254
Again a lot of guesses and lowe-borderline performance in behav sci.

Should I prepone my exam??(originally its july30th)
But still im not confident at all as i had to take so many guesses. How predictive is this NBME 12?

Hi man! congrats for the score! very nice, just for my littile survey that i am doing, did you see how many mistakes you had?

I recommend you on moving the exam earlier.
You can take it 2-3 weeks from now i think.
I personally had the same problem and after i got my score on NBME 610 (not as good as yours ) i moved my exam earlier and scheduled it to 25 days from that day.
I got 11 days to go now till my exam and i feel like i have overkilled it, should have moved it abit earlier. The only reason i didnt was because of DIT i wanted to do it for 15 days, eventually i think it was waste of my time.
DIT works under saturation kinetics, it may bring you to 240 but it wont shot you over that.

Hey if i cancel my exam now and then schedule it to an earlier date, do i have to pay the cancellation fees to the prometric??? My exam is scheduled for 30th JULY and its almost 29th June(1hr left!) here ... so does that fall under the 31 days period??
