Based on 09 hrs per day.

And then I hope to be done with this drag and will be allowed to breathe .

I've always been good at planning, never at implementing! Hope that changes now.

Info Update Day 3

Between yesterday and today I was able to get rid of KBank i.e. I finished 100% of the questions but I still have to review about 12 blocks which I wasn't doing out of sheer boredom.

Finished physio up to Lung mechanics.

Now need to sit down and cover the backlog of reviews and finish the 2nd read ASAP.

Cool Update Day 4-7

Well I decided to take a break.
So I did not do much in the last 4 days.

Did few chapters of Physio. Now done till Adrenal Cortex in Endo. I had planned to be done with Physio by the 18th but I hadn't figured this break. Now let's see if it can be done.

Started DIT today after a lot of procrastinating. While it becomes a drag at times it is not all that bad. In fact if Jenkins did not have that smirk it could even be good. Any ways, much better than going through FA all by itself. Finished two lectures of Day 1 today. Hope to pick up speed tomorrow.
Will try to finish it by 31/07 and then take an NBME.

Help Update day 8-9

All right guys... I need some advice and need it now... PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! :sorry: :sorry: :sorry:

I started DIT on 15th but I could finish only Day 1 lectures till yesterday. Then I just could not bring myself to start Day 2, even though I had a lot of time left. Problem is I could not bring myself to study anything else also. I was so bored that I took the day off yesterday and the whole day today I was loafing about dreading going back to DIT and didn't study much else even today.

Should I just carry on with my 2nd read and Qbanks by myself? I have 5 weeks to go, not much time.

So far my problem has been recall of facts rather than concepts. What do I do? I'm pretty bad in Immuno, Molecular Bio (BChem in general), Pharm and Micro. Rest of the subjects are only OK. I'm an old IMG, need to score more than decently to get the specialty of my choice.

Also I get bored of studying pretty quickly. Not bored like "I'll come back to it after a two day break" but bored like "I can't touch this book again in my life". I'm reaching that stage with my Step 1 prep material after about 9 months of preparing. I have really pushed the exam date as far as I could.

What do I do?

My brain is going PANIC! PANIC! PANIC! .

Unhappy Update day 10-11

So I've decided to chuck DIT since no advice was coming through and it was taking ages. Thank God I took some advice earlier and did not take the paid version of it.
I will do the workbook if possible.
Now trying to get my rhythm back for my 2nd read. Plus travel coming up over the weekend and next week.
Was able to finish Physio 2nd read and now starting Molecular Biology, the section where I'm still at 58% in both UW and Kbank. .

I'm just fed up. It's like there is Road block I keep bumping into whenever I try to get some momentum going. I feel like the monkey on a greased pole, 2 feet up, 3 feet down.

I think this break will really help me. At least I hope as much.

Good luck guys. I just started reading for the exam again and can only afford to prepare for about two months before it will be necessary to start working again. How is DIT? Are you watching an older version of it? I'd really appreciate if you sent me the info about DIT to ultrarunner18@hotmail.com. Thanks a lot. I'm having some trouble memorizing FA right now. Probably need to focus more on KLN first after finishing Pathoma over the weekend.

Default DIT

for DIT all i can say is
if you have done KLN its good
dont expect much from dit
as the guy just reads FA
but it provides you with a time bound approach
to finish FA...i have the offline version...2011 DIT

Are you kidding me??? Mine is on 12 Sep too. Which center?
Thanks for the encouragement! I count all the breaks, travel and distractions out when I plan so I can buffer it. That's why this thread reads 6 weeks only.
Good luck man!

I think you should do DIT if you can tolerate it. The only advantage is, it forces you to sit for those many hours every day. I find FA more tolerable than DIT.
When is your exam? How are you doing on Kbank and UW? Are you doing Random or Subject wise?
Whatever you do Good luck!

Warning! 41 days to go!!!! Schedule Revamped

I would have started a new thread but then I thought what's wrong with this one.
I was traveling this last week and suddenly today I realized that I have a major pile up of backlog and I had not taken travel into account earlier. Actually I assumed I might squeeze in a few pages which didn't work out.
Plus I stopped DIT after finishing Day 1 because I just couldn't do it.
So I will start fresh. Now my major concern is to clear the backlog before I proceed further.

Backlog:
Kaplan 2nd read: BChem 107 pgs + Review questions 58 .
UW: 1 block + review of 2 blocks
KBank: Review 13 blocks

Finished so far:
2nd read KLN: Path, Physio, Pharm, Molecular Bio
100% Kbank except those blocks that still need to be reviewed
UW 90%
NBME 1, 5 (offline) and 11 (online)
Kaplan Sim Test 1
UWSA 1

Schedule:
26/07: UW 1 block + 2 blocks review.
BChem till TCA cycle (53pgs) and review questions (32).
27/07: 2 blocks KBank review.
BChem: Glycogen & HMP Shunt to AA Metab (60pgs) and Review Questions (50)
Hopefully I'll cover the BChem backlog till this date.

28/07:
UW 1 Block + Review; 2 Blocks KBank review
BChem: Purine & Pyr Metab (08pgs) + Review Questions (05)
Genetics: Single Gene Disorders (19pgs) + Review Questions (14)
29/07: UW 1 Block + Review; 2 Blocks KBank review
Genetics: Population genetics, Cytogenetics (25pgs) + RQs (14)
30/07: UW 1 Block + Review; 2 Blocks KBank review
Genetics: Common Genetic Disorders, Gene Mapping, Genetic Diagnosis (28pgs) + RQs (10)
This should finish BChem, Molecular Bio and Genetics 2nd read for me.
31/07: UW 1 block + Review. This should finish UW 100%
KBank 5 blocks review. This should finish off my entire backlog so far.

Target:
31/07: Clear all backlog.
01/08: NBME 12
02-13/08: Finish Anat, Neuroscience, Embryo, Histo/ Cell bio + 2nd run UW (Marked Qs only)
14/08: NBME 13
15-18/08: Finish Immunology
22/08: Finish Beh Science
23/08-04/09: 2nd Read FA Weak areas
05/09: UWSA 2
07/09:
Kaplan Sim Test 2
08/09: NBME 7

10/09: HY & Forgettables
11/09: Free 150
12/09: TO Hell With Step 1.

I will keep posting detailed updates and exact targets as I drag along. But for now this should do.

Arrow 36 days to go

Well I was supposed to cover up my backlog and take an NBME today but I couldn't.
I was able to finish 2nd read of BChem & Genetics today. Such a boring subject, it could kill you . Somehow managed .
So that's it.
New Plan: Cover the backlog of Review & Qbank by 04/08 and take NBME on 05/08.

Hope :sorry: this works out!

Cool 31 days to go

So I was able to cover the backlog more or less by today that's 2 days later than I planned.
Done with 100% UW 1st pass.
And the remaining review of Kbank blocks that I had been avoiding for so long.
Now Plan to take NBME 12 tomorrow.
Then 8 days for 2nd UW incorrect questions @ 2 blocks per day.
Starting with Anat today evening. Will see how long it takes. I will stop in b/w if it is taking too much time.

Target:
Take another NBME on 16/08
Start FA final read and last pass of UW on 17/08
Finish things off by 31/08.
That gives me a week or so to prepare for any last minute weaknesses.

Unhappy 24 days to go

Well. Last few says have been bad.
Severe Sciatica so I just took sedatives and kept sleeping for >2 days. Able to sit somehow today I wonder how I'll sit my exam if this comes back the night before . Feeling so demotivated.
Schedule keeps going into the bin..
I'm done with Embryo & Cell bio revision. Now in Systemic Anat but very slow given the health front.
Also did 4 blocks of UW 2nd pass incorrect questions. Boy, did it bring down my cumulative performance . I'd forgotten all about these concepts!

Target: Finish Anat by 17/08 somehow. and hopefully UW 2nd pass.
Now fingers crossed :sorry: I hope I don't fall ill again and this stupid sciatica goes away :sorry:.

dont worry, everyone has those short 4 hour days once in a while. Just dont make it into a regular routine. Thats when it's a problem. you're doing just fine productivity wise.

I know it's vast and I'm toiling through it 2nd time. However, you have time and I suggest go back to it whenever you have a problem with concepts. No need to repeat the videos if you have taken notes the 1st time around.
GLuck!

Hey buddy, thanks for saving your sense of humor. . I'm moving out if that frame of mind too quickly.
I thought Step 1 could not get to me but this sick bastard is catching up, even with me, & so quickly that it's scary at times. I just hope to outrun it till 12 Sep and then turn back and say Gotcha!

If you are done with KLN then it should be a good idea to move on to FA.
I've not used any other review material.

Help 16 days to go!!!

If the exam is anything like NBME 13 I'm totally screwed.
Took it today and it has scared the living daylight out of me .
My performance in Behavioral science, which was on the upper side of borderline went to the lower side of it. As did GI, Bchem, nervous system & spl senses, renal & urinary, and physio.
Exam is near and my scores are close to my target score but about 10 points less.
I hope this was the kick I needed in my backside to get me started on my final leg but .... I hope and pray :sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry: that the exam is nothing like NBME 13.
Recent exam takers, please tell me it is not! I'm psyched.

Thanks, I graduated in 2008.
I will definitely post as soon as I'm done.

Arrow 11 days to go!!!

Finished 2nd read of BS. It really is B.S., teach something and don't ask anything that makes any sense .
Hope to finish Immuno by tomorrow.

Then 10 days of FA & UW marked questions revision.

Travel.
Get over with those 8 effing hours that have effed my life for almost a year.
Travel again.
Have a blast.

:sorry: I hope I have a reason to smile after 5 weeks from now.
Fingers, toes and anything else that can be crossed, is crossed.

Good luck for your prep!! Seems like you will do great on the real exam! Have read some of your posts and it looks like a good progress.

I just wanted to ask are you doing your second read from kaplan right now in the last few days? or just sticking to FA and UW? I wanted to know if trying to do kaplan in the last month will be helpful? Thanks

Thanks for the good wishes.
I haven't made quite as much progress as I hoped to and I am in a situation where I cannot change my date. So I have to do with what I have got.
I am doing 2nd read of KLN in this last month because I have read FA only once and I'm more comfortable with Kaplan. I find FA deficient in Physio and Beh Science. So I need to go back to KLN for the concepts. Hopefully I'll be done today and for the next 10 days I plan to do only FA and UW.

Yeah that makes sense, FA is deficient in many things conceptual i agree and even with systems, its only complete with UW notes in my opinion. Anyway good luck again! You'll be done with this in no time!!

Unhappy 8 days to go!!!

For anyone wondering, that is Nervous laughter.
I did UWSA2 yesterday and my score has improved only 10 points over what I got in UWSA1 3 months ago. 73-83% people knew the right answers to the questions I got wrong. So much for doing UWSA to boost confidence!

Anyways, 8 days to go, so can't bother too much. My problem is still RECALL!
So I am planning to sit and mug up FA in the next 8 days while reviewing marked questions in UW.
Will do NBME 7 exactly 7 days from now & see where I stand.

Oh God, why don't they let us give it in the day we are comfortable giving this test? I have peaked and now I'm going down. . Not a good thing for and old IMG out of a job.

Default 5 days to go!!!

Okay, I have till this Friday to do what I can do. Then I have a really long travel ahead of me before I give my exam on 12 Sep.
I'm reading FA for the weak points which is essentially Memorization.
I'll have to go back to KLN for a rapid look up of Physio, BS & Pharm may be.
Will take NBME 7 on Wednesday.
Left Free 150 for 11th. That's all I plan to do that day apart from checking out the center because I need to relax after the travel.
Anything I'm missing out on?

This is it I guess!
