Help Don't know where to start prep!

Hi Guys!

I am restarting my preparation for step 1. I dont know where to start. Initially I had read kaplan notes with dvds and goljan twice. Its almost a 6 month gap in my preparation now and I dont know how much I retain the stuff. I did USMLE WORLD as well with 63% cumulative scores then but its now almost a year since. What should I do now? Just read FA again and do mcqs plus DIT (Which I havent done before) or read all the books AGAIN the thought of which is creeping me out.
I have to appear in early October cant delay any more. Hoping for 240 +.Please suggest me how to go about it.
Kind of freaking out

I have decided to quickly go through the kaplan books and goljan. Then read FA once and take and NBME and then take it from there. Though how much I hate reading all books again but I know without it it will be difficult.

Hello lara
I think that you is the only one who knows how much did you retain from previous study. In my opinion, if you added kaplan into FA before, then do FA and goljian only.
If not then your above plan is great I think.

Don't be afraid from studying again, I am sure that main things are still in your head, you gotta only refresh the details. NBME will let us see where we are standing, and I think it's time after refreshment is good.
Remember YOU CAN DO IT
Good luck and we are here supporting you if you needed any help

Why don't you just take an nbme to see where you are at?

if its good then all you need is a little first aid and your set...

Personally, I dont know how u can "quickly go through kaplan." No one knows how much u retained. So doing an NBME soon is always a good step as it will point u in the right direction on areas to focus on. Even if u do terrible on the NBME, use that fear to push u to work harder than ever.

Goodluck.

Initially I also thought of starting with an NBME but I think there is no point in taking Shortcuts. Its better to go through the stuff once, then take an assessment and then take on my weaknesses from there.

It's not a shortcut ...you've put in the time before...it's simply a test to gauge where you are at in your prep
