Smile Got my result 251(87)

Hi,
I just got the result, its 251/87. thank god for this score after an excruciating and arduous preparation .This score is really important to me since i am an ancient IMG (10 yrs)
Since many have stressed upon good step scores, i was under tremendous pressure to perform. Also, my baby was hospitalized with bronchiolitis in the week prior to exam and got discharged the day prior to exam.
as far as the preparation is concerned, i did almost the same as others, Kaplan LN (except for anatomy, physiology), FA, UW ,GOLJAN + COSTANZO PHYSIO, HY ANAT, HY NEUROANAT, BRS behavioural science.
my serial NBME scores in order 247, 235, 233, 240 (3 days prior to exam).
please feel free to ask any doubts.
I'll try to clarify as much as I can.

congratulation for the amazing score...

i am also an old graduate (6 years).... preparing for step 1 ....n planning to give d exam in coming 1-2 months.... am all right in all d subjects but anatomy.... i have done embryo and neuroanat but haven't touched general anat yet.... i have always been week in anat. can u please tell me how many embryo, general anat and neuroanat questions u have got in d actual exam? and also i would like to know how was genetics and molecular biology have been tested... cause many recent exam takers told that these 2 subjects have been heavily tested and questions were difficult , and the details they were asking were not included in kaplan or FA ....

A person with 221 and immigrant visa won't have issues unless he/she wants some specific specialty-only residencies. Best of luck!

NBME11-247(1.5 months before),6-235(1 month),7-235(1month),13-240(4 days )I took 6 & & in quick succession since i was worried of my declining scores!I did those without revising kaplan & FA.Its very difficult to say which one was most exam like.I didnt get any repeat qs or pics from any of the NBMEs.

Ya,I also felt the same since i was reading it after a gap of 15 yrs, many concepts were new esp genetics .I took a lot of time in preparing for that.kaplan is more than sufficient .If you are not comfortable with any of the concepts,pl go to lippincott, the topics will be well explained with clear illustrations, esp globular, fibrous proteins, oxidative phosphorylation ,molecular biology etc.u dont need more than kaplan & lippincott.you have to revise for sure.take your time in preparing for biochem & immunology ,they ll have practical applications in your future practice too.all the best.

I too had my distractions ,its natural & step 1 is really not that easy.your feeling is natural .At no point of time you ll feel completely prepared for this exam.
I took nearly a year for my prep.but its not full time.I was working full time with hectic duties. an average ,i studied for 25 to 30 hrs/week.u really get concentrated preparation in library.so if u have a library nearby ,pl use it to the maximum.
I did only UW,i don have idea about other q banks.I personally feel it ll be better to revise kaplan LN & UW as many times as possible rather than going for a new bank.hope this info helps.

Its natural to lose track with family responsibilities.however since you have finished 1 reading of kaplan,u have to capitalise on that ,now start doing UW questions whenever u find time ,it ll help u to learn more& improve your momentum.I read on average 25-30 hrs/week .hope this info helps.
