It's not that people are ignoring, it's just that everyone we know is already done with step 1 and is on the step 2 thread lol

I always feel for the last week, these are the best things to do:

1- quick scan of FA and UW notes (if not cover to cover, then weak areas will do).

2- Rapid review from FA

3- Ethics cases, conrad fischer (if you haven't done them already).

4- pictures and images and CT's and MRI's etc

5- list of forgettables (if you have a personal version then perfect, if not then here it is List of Forgettables - What you need to review few days before the exam

6- free 150 questions day before the exam (because you won't study but you want to keep your head in the game, plus there a little easy so it'll boost your confidence).

7- Most most most importantly, SLEEPING SCHEDULE! As tempting as it will be to finish those last 5-10-20 pages in the middle of the night, stop and go to sleep. Sleep earlier and earlier everyday, and wake up earlier and earlier every day.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't underestimate these final days, try as much as possible to keep your nerves cold and calm until the day of the exam.

These are all i can think of for now.
Good luck!
and dont forget to update us with your NBME, on this thread if you want

yeah i did NBME 7 a month back and got 221 in that.. But i guessed more than half the question so I got no idea how to read 221.

I guess I'll get a better picture after NBME 13.

I feel like I wasted last 3 weeks doing DIT cuz I dont think I have learned anything new.

Thanx for the words of encouragement though.. We'll all do well

Hi.i think that DIT's main aim isn't to teach you smth new. 95% of DIT material is in FA, but they are doing it in other way than reading. You'll see in your NBME 13 you'll answer questions more confident

The problem is, I dont think I remember anything that guy said.. Lol

I do my best when I read on my own but since everyone talks big about DIT I wanted to do it too, to see what it's all about.

But I'd be really happy if it helps me in some way..

For some weird reason I'm really low on confidence at the moment.. I guess everyone goes through that phase a week before your exam..

Anyway, gotta stay motivated!! So screw the dull feeling!

ok guys i did my nbme-13

This is the 1st time in my life i am getting a score that 200+
and am happy with it.... like i am not a super genius for 230+ n all but did what i could.

I scored 450/210

which is great for me, now i feel i should have done UW much earlier!!

am attaching my score report as well, so you guys can see and any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

the thing is, when i did nbme-11 2 weeks back it should a good score for Cardio with a star couple other subjects.

But this time its going other way round..lol...

but doesnt matter, no complains

From now on am planning to do only Morning nbme(offlines) then Afternoon till i sleep off UW with FA for the weaker subjects.

hope that will booost a little bit of my score.. lol

exam scheduled on 24th july.

If you utilize these following days as much as you can, you might make it to the 220's range in the exam.

Bravo on the good work, but don't let it give you a sense of security.
Work hard, keep at it, you're almost there!

Good luck

I did NBME 13 too.. and my score is the same as NBME 7 that I did a month back.
I think i'm gonna change my exam date.. it's 26th right now but i think i'll push it by a week and try to do some high yield that I have not done yet and some how get in the 230's i'A.

Hi, aj23!

I was out the whole day. I'm sorry I just read your pm. Here's my feedback:

Based from your nbme 13, this is what I'd suggest:
- Run-through FA microbio chapter (takes around 6 -8 hrs)
- Run-through FA immuno chapter (takes around 3 hrs or less)
- Review FA cardio patho section
- Review heart sounds for an hour (while correlating it to FA cardio murmurs page)
- Review FA msk patho section
- FA and Kaplan qbank for genetics (it's only 1-2 blocks)
- FA and Kaplan qbank for cell bio and histology (it's only 1-2 blocks)

If you have time, also practice a few questions on biostat calculations.

These are doable in 3 days before the exam:
3 days prior to exam - FA microbio/immuno
2 days prior to exam - FA cardio-patho, FA msk-patho, FA and Kaplan qbank on genetics and cell biology
1 day prior to exam - few biostat practice questions, review your personal list of forgettables

*1 day prior to exam - study only in the morning; rest and relax after 1 pm.

- It pays to review microbiology bec. it's extremely high yield in the exam. Many easy questions will come from microbiology. To make it to 240++, you'll need to get these "easy" questions right.

- You have very limited time. That's why I'm only recommending the patho part of FA cardio and msk. Based from your nbme, you're having problems in patho and on these topics. Might as well have a last read on them.

- I specifically mentioned reviewing heart sounds (for an hour) bec. you'll most likely get 3-5 heart sounds in the exam. The questions may or may not be difficult, but at least you've reviewed them near the exam. You'll develop your own technique on how to answer them during the actual test. Take note, however, that you must not dwell too much on this. 1 hour is enough.

- Genetics, cell bio, and histology in my exam were very low yield. In my opinion, you don't need to worry about them. But for confidence sakes (so that you won't get too anxious) you might as well review them through kaplan qbank. If set on HY mode, it's just 1-2 blocks each for genetics, cell bio, and histology. You won't get exact questions, but the clarification of concepts might help. I don't recommend studying other books anymore at this point. I'm suggesting kaplan qbank bec. it's the easiest and fastest way to work on these (unless you want to stick to FA and UW notes) given the time constraints.

- FA is enough for immuno. But if you're having problems with concepts, kaplan qbank immuno (set it on high yield since you lack time), will help you with them.

- I'm recommending that you practice a few biostat computations (if you still haven't done so during this week). This is so that you'll be fast in solving biostat problems during the actual exam. It's really for time's sake only.

If you're wondering, how about reviewing past nbmes?
It's your choice. I'd prioritize "working on the foundation" over the nbmes. Also, I think reviewing nbmes adds to anxiety and personally, I don't sleep well when I'm stressed or worried. On the other hand, my study partner reviewed nbmes during the last 1-2 days and she still got a 240. Like I said, it's up to you.

Good luck, bud! I wish you all the best!
