Idea! UWorld Three Times Instead of FA!

If I do uworld 3 times, and read all the explanations, can that substitute for first aid? Can I get away with not doing first aid and instead do usmle world thoroughly?

Uworld and FA are totally different. I mean therez a lot of overlap but u will not find a lot of FA's content in UW and vice-cerse.

If you aske me, i think FA is a must but I have not taken the exam and i DO know people who didnt do FA at all and scored well.. BUT they did KLN till the very last day.

Arrow Both are necessary

Both are must. Do FA thrice and UW twice at least.

A friend of mine who scored 254. He used to tell me

'FA should be memorized by heart like Bible or Quran and UW read every explanation as many times as you can'

A third pass of UW is not a very good use of time. If you don't like books like first aid(like me), then just browse through it quickly and add extra points and concepts to your Kaplan LN. That's what I'm doing right now...the book kills my interest, to be honest. Its just a very very large flash card, that's what it is!

FA isn't compulsory. Friend of mine didn't touch FA and he scored 269. He just did Kaplan and UW.

Wow 269 awesome.AMG?
l like FA simply I can have all the info at one place rather than going through 7 books which at the end seems HELL

No he's an IMG. I myself prefer the frenzy of flipping through a different kaplan book every time I get some doubt

Sorry to say this but this is a dumb idea.
No one should even start any qbank especially uworld without atleast going through FA once and that is if u are one of smartests kids in medskool but if u are as dull as meThen u must do Kaplan/FA b4 doing qbank.
How will you even understand what uworld is saying in the 1st place with this plan?

There is no shortcut to being a Dr

I've already done fa with dit twice and I'm understanding uworld, which is why I was wondering of I can get away without going back to first aid

Why would you ask if you can use UW as a substitute for FA, if you've already used FA and DIT twice?

because in the last month of prep, i hear you should do first aid really well, especially during the last week. So I was wondering if I can only do uworld explanations rather than focus on first aid again

I'm anti-FA also, but we have to listen to the crowd. If you do UW 3x and if you've done FA 2x, then a 3rd and final read should take only a few days to cement the info.

I made the mistake of grabbing many unpopular books for CS in addition to FA and my thought once I left the center (a very common one among step 1 takers) was I should have focused more on FA. It will not give you any additional info....but it should help in the recalling, which is a major factor for killing this test.

Like I said, it only helps. Many, many super high scores didn't touch FA. They follow the Kaplan approach which IMO should deliver better scores. But for those who aren't organized and want that extra "help" FA offers (especially in conjunction with DIT; what a pain to even open FA and start reading) it can do wonders.
