Neuro Internal Capsule Arterial Supply!

A lesion involving posterior limb of internal capsule on right results in which of the following: which artery is involved?

a. transcortical apraxia
b. retrograde amnesia
c. left homonymous hemianopia with macular sparing
d. altered sensation fron left side of face
e. drooping of right corner of mouth.

my answer D.....the artery would be middle cerebral artery

C.
Posterior or the retrolentiform part of IC contains
1.thalamo-cortical fibres to the occipital cortex.
2.Cortico(fronto)spinal fibres to LL muscles.

supplied by MCA.

B hippocampus
C occipital cortex
D anterior limb(sensory)
E genu(corticobulbar)

so I think A, with MCA affected.

please correct me if i was wrong.

I agree... the post limb contains corticospinal fibres as well as ALL SOMATOSENSORY THALAMOCORTICAL PROJECTIONS.

E i think is the best choice from given options (mostly corticobulbar fibers are located in genu)
Lateral striate branch of MCA + ant choroidal artery

Transcortical apraxia is due to lesion of corpus callosum (ACA)

do you see macular sparing in optic radiation lesion??? i guess we observe macular sparing in visual cortex lesions only?????

correct me if im wrong.....

ANS - D.
Genu and posterior limb of IC is supplied by MCA, ant limb - ACA.

Both spinothalamic tract and corticospinal tract fibres go thro'' posterior limb of IC, so contralateral pain, temp lost.
Therefore, lesion of right IC leads to altered sensation over left side of face.
