Help Starting Step 1 Prep

I graduated a month ago, and now I'm at that period when, after a month of celebration and traveling, reality sinks in and you realize it's time to get to work but feel immensely overwhelmed.

I plan to apply for residency in September 2013, so how should I schedule everything so that I finish with a cushion of 1-2 weeks? What are the deadlines I should be aware of?

I have the kaplan lecture notes and videos, and I was wondering:

- Is it advisable to do any Qbank with it for the first read?
- Is it necessary to annotate the Kaplan notes or are they just for making a concept to study FA intensively?
- Should I get the FA and study relevant parts in it along with Kaplan on my first read?
- Are the videos important or simply consolidating what is already in the books? If the latter, then isn't it just time time that could be better spent reading the notes more carefully?

Given the time that I have, I am aiming for a high score, at least 240.

All advice appreciated!

well first congratss on your graduation....... coming to the subject.. the ideas keep changing from person to person.. if you are strong with your basics kaplan could be finished earlier... and FIRST AID is the main source but its well understood in the first read if your strong with the subject.. or else a readof kaplan would make first aid reading better....... our CS should ideally taken by may 13 so that you get ur results in time. all results with apps and LORs shold be ready by sept 13 with ecfmg certification.. and try reading GOLIJAN RAPID REVIEW for path along with his audios......a strong base with step 1 should reduce the time req for step 2 ........... all the best.. hope it helped

Thanks!

The CS should be done by May 13th, but what is the latest 'safe' date to take the CK so that I have at least a 1-2 week cushion before residency applications deadlines?
