DNA Sugar Base Bonding in DNA?

What type of bond we have between the sugar in base in DNA?

Is it covalent?

Am little bit confused about that

hi there

y were u askin about the bond type? did u see it in a question somewhere? do u think they will ask that in an exam? it is nice to know though. i mean at least we can understand the kinds of bonds formed when u add nucleotides in a PCR reaction.

Post bonds in DNA

remember there are three kinds of bonds in DNA

1] bond between two sugar base and an intervening phosphate is a phospho-di-ester bond..this bond is basically connecting the two sugar's via means of a phosphate in between...

2]hydrogen bond-this bond makes dna a double helix it is present between 2 base pairs i'e' AT or CG.

@ faith yeaaa we knoe those what about the bond between the sugar and a base its covalent ??? this is the question

between 2 bases is the hydrogen bond forming double helix

between sugar and the phosphate is the phospho diester bond

Post bond

bond between sugar and a nitrogen base is a glycosidic bond...and a glycosidic bond is a covalent bond..
