Kaplan Medical Kaplan Notes is not going with the video!

I started my physio prep today and the first chapter in the book is called "Fluid Distribution and Edema". But in the video lecture, they say the first chapter is "Basic properties of cell membrane". And whatever he's explaining in that does not correlate with whats in the first chapter in the book. Is this normal or do i have an outdated video lecture? My book's the 2010 Kaplan.

thank you seetal for your reply. I think i have old videos. Like i said, my books are the 2010 edition and the videos are outdated.. The fat Caucasian doctor teaches the entire physiology in the new lectures i believe. Now i'm really screwed since i dont know what to do

To tell u frankly I don't think that chapter is too important so try starting ahead as I also did my physio but I guess I have to give a reading again
Best of luck

Default Old videos...How I am Using them..

I have the old videos and access to the new Kaplan videos online. My internet access has been a nightmare so i have found myself resorting to the old videos.. My best advice for either the old or the new videos. Is to watch and take notes the best you can. When you are done watching the video look at the what ever chapter that comes closest to correlating and read it... You will find your self breezing through not to mention you will also be able to add some info to the notes you took.. If you try adding to the information in the book, I have found that diagrams and graphs and the information itself does not stick as well. Taking notes from the video has really helped me to implant the information..
GOOD LUCK Hope this helps.

~P
P.S. I have the physio vids with the Indian Prof. teaching physio I will send them to you if there is a effective way to do so.. I am familiar with Direct Connect PM me if your interested..

Show Teeth Direct Connect..

Direct Connect is a Peer To Peer file Sharing Program.. Unlike BitTorrent you are able to directly download the files you want from the User that has it, instead of downloading bits and pieces from several People... I use it to send people large files that take a few days to download.. The guy teaching physio in my videos is Kudrath. I had the older professor for the live Kaplan Lecture, he was a Really nice, but his teaching style wasn't for me.. Good Luck Studying!

same story here.
videos you have are 2007 one and notes are 2009-10.
some chapter like first is new ,and some more you will encounter them later.
1st option--download 2007 notes and look for the chapter number as most of the chapters are there but rearrange.
2nd option-use your downloaded 2007 notes with videos and give reading to extra chapters in 2010 notes.
if you need link to something pm me.

i think there shouldnt be a problem. just go through the 2007 vids like going to lectures. then read ur 2010 notes thoroughly n do the following qbook questions. u will be fine. there cant be so much of difference with content. the most difference will be with the arrangement of topics. because now i think they want us to think more on the basis of clinical than before. so however they arrange it will help us think that way. but lectures are lectures. going in any direction when someone is explaining to us wont confuse us.

try again.

I am doing the same.
but if you want read same topic after listening to the video its easier to have 2007 notes just for reference of topic number and page as there rearranged and combined.

Warning! Step 1 kaplan notes

I am half way through prep with my 2004 notes and 2007 videos and have made extensive notes in all subjects accordingly. I am just a little concerned now that they have changed the format to clinical is it going to affect my preparation?I really do not want to miss out on stuff but at the same time I can't help but think that my preparation so far would be wasted if I were to start reviewing step 1 with the new lectures again. btw I only have 2010 notes and no videos. I have searched extensively for them online(video for 2010) but to no avail.

The 2010 videos are not available online. As for your other question, seetal has been of very much help, to me atleast. I'm sure she'll shoo your fears away too :P

Default well i dunnot if what i say is much of help...

don't worry, not matter how clinical the subjects gets, the basics that u have to cover is still the same. don't forget some people only rely on reading the FA n manage to score really well. u are doing kaplan (which is more detailed) so u're safe. whether u are doing the 2007 or 2010 videos wont make much difference (as it is just one edition away). the only things that would've changed are the lecturers (maybe better ones that explain things well) or the way they arrange their materials. i personally enjoy the 2007-2008 videos. the lecturers are good at giving out hints n explaining details so its easier for us to understand.

n look at the new exam format at a good way--> more clinical means more hints---> easier for us to come up with one right answer by exclusion method at least rather than having 2 possible answers, like it was for previous exam format (which a lot of people have experienced).

no matter which edition of kaplan u are doing, trust me, once u're done with the first round reading n u have managed to remember 50 - 60%, u will feel so much smarter n knowledgeable. n that will make u feel 60% ready for the exam.
