Yeah you ca n put stuff in your locker and read in the breaks. Whether thats a good idea or not is an entirely different conversation altogether. when's your test anomali?

Yes. You are allowed to leave the Prometric center when you take a scheduled break (means you finished a block), but you are not allowed to leave the center or access your personal locker if you take unscheduled break (means you are still in the middle of a block).

In my personal opinion, it's absolutely wrong to review books during the exam. The USMLE is not a 10 page course where cramming at the exam would help. It's a huge test and about huge knowledge and reading at the day of the exam is not useful and may even confuse you more and clutter your brain.

In fact, I recommend that you don't open any book even the day before the exam, to give your Hippocampus time to recircuit its wires and store and organize the information

Yes, you can read during breaks.

I read between breaks coz I was afraid that a question i got wrong might be repeated (if only the concept). And rightly so, some questions were repeated across the blocks, different words, same concept.

I could also use my phone during the breaks. I had to call my husband to chitchat in the last couple of breaks, coz i could not take it anymore!!!!

Of course, reading did not help!

The phonecalls did!

of course u can, but believe me, if u enter the exam with the idea that there is something i should revise in breaks then u r risking your score. it is more about concepts and how u integrate all from the beginning. i know there are plenty of tables and solid facts for memorization, but reviewing any during the exam won't help to ace at all. it even may stress ya out if u figured out any mistakes u did in previous blocks.

and from my point of view, the break is just to relax, wash your face and barely eat a sandwich or drink water/juice, so u will risk the time barely available for these precious things to revise an info that u may not encounter in the next blocks

Thank you steptaker and ever1.....

i ll try following steptaker's advice....i feel the same----better stay away from books one day before and the day of the exam.

studying during the breaks can make us more apprehensive about the questions answered in the previous blocks. And i feel, the breaks are meant for reviving us and gearing up for the next block.
