First Aid First Aid 2012 - Neurology page 438

FA 2012, Page 438
Is it only me, or on the Basal Ganglia image the green and red colors are reversed? e.g the green is the excitatory pathway while the red is the inhibitory pathway?

I noticed the exact same thing and therefore drew my own drawing of it all to slap over that dumb one they have.

Yeah, there pic is not the best. However, I think they do have it right.

Red is excitatory from cerebral cortex and the neurons in the striatum (enclosed in that tiny box in putamen)release GABA. So basically, they are stimulated by the cortex to release GABA to inhibit the inhibition (which ultimately excites) further along.

I think.. I'm not fully sure.
