Help USMLE step 1

Hello, I just joined this website yesturday so dont judge too much if i mess somethings up . Well, I am going to be a 2nd year IMG and I'm planning to take the USMLE step one probably early 2014. However, after the 2nd year I don't think that all the courses will be covered yet for Step One since I havent gotten my schedule yet. Do you recommend me to take it before all the courses or should I wait until maybe after 3rd year to take this? I recently bought the RR Pathology by Goljan however I tried to read that and took me a fairly long time to understand it maybe because I havent taken pathology yet When you read the RR Pathology, Is there any tips or main points I should focus on? Since the book and material is very dense its hard to grasp all the small details. I have been paying more attention to the blue prints on the right side of the page. And is there any other recommendations for me to do well on Step One? If so all inputs/comments are welcome!!

Sorry made this thread a little long but I hope some will respond!

-Max

Hey Lalita
welcome to the party....and don't feel hesitant in posting anything on the forum. But yes i would sincerely suggest to chill a little bit and do not rush with the preparation. And if u still wanna start, you can do it with Anatomy and Physiology books and videos. you can start building your foundation by understanding the concepts rather than memorizing too much stuff. regarding Path, take a chill pill for now. you can start it once you are done with anat, physio n micro. the best would be to read n reinforce whatever u r taught in the class. but again, do not rush as of now because once you start, you won't have any life for the next few months at least. Any questions are welcome and good luck
