Default Which defense mechanism in a hospitalized patient?

A 60-year-old man is hospitalized for treatment of an infection. He has seldom missed work due to illness, and is the type of person who likes to be in charge and does not ask for help. Since hospitalization, though, he has been relying on staff to help with small tasks that he is capable of doing, such as opening the curtains. The patientís behavior is an example of which defense mechanism?

a) Denial
b) Projection
c) Regression
d) Sublimation
e) Suppression

Default Suppression

Confused between Regression and suppression.
Regression: completely forgot
Suppression: forgot but can remember by right clue.

So may be person trying to get some relaxation and not doing basic work even.
but

sorry to disobey you..but i think completely forgot is repression not regression
regression is returning to childhood devt.(milestones).....here in this question..the person depending on nurse staff for daily activities too, which he used to do before hospitalization...so i guess regression would be appropriate answer....correct me if i'm wrong

Default correct answer :)

The answer is c) Regression

Regression is a defense mechanism in which a person reverts to earlier patterns of behavior in response to stress. Regression is a normal and common response to illness.
