Post about tetracycline group of drugs...

q) tetracycline is an antimicrobial group of drugs that inhibit prokaryotic protein synthesis.....it can be used for various causes and diseases too....it is also used in the treatment of condition 'X', which causes hypoosmolar volume expansion...
which of the following drugs are not related in causing 'X'?

a) carbamazepine
b) chlorpromazine
c) chloramphenicol
d) chlorpropamide
e) cyclophosphamide

yes, the correct answer is C ) CHLORAMPHENICOL

all the other 'C' drugs are associated with SIADH

demeclocycline, a tetracycline is used for treatment of SIADH....it is also used for lyme disease and nodulocystic acne.....lithium is also used for SIADH

carbamazepine----an antiepileptic..blocks Na channels..teratogenicity causes spina bifida and craniofacial abnormalities
chlorpropamide-----an antidiabetic----1st generation sulphonylureas...close potassium channels.......s/e---hypoglycemia
cyclophosphamide-----an alkylating agent,causes hemorrhagic cystitis....due to accumulation of acroleim----treated by mesna
chlorpromazine-----a phenothiazine antipsychotic used for schizophrenia.....causes corneal deposits...blocks dopamine receptors
