Clock USMLEWorld - How long does it take to complete?

Hi guys..

I'm about to register at USMLEworld, but I need to know how long does it take on average to complete all the questions. I haven't scheduled the day of the exam yet. I'm studying full time. My eligibility period is months 10, 11, 12.

If I can spend the whole day working on UW, how many months do I need to finish it?

I'm pretty confused on this point, so I don't know exactly when to schedule the day of the exam.

I'd appreciate ur advice.
Thanks.

Default About 35 to 40 days

It depends on your prior preparation.

Did you finish all the reading materials? Did you do any other Qbank before?

I'd say most students start with one block per day (each block is 46-48 questions) and then gradually they then can finish two blocks per day.

Since UW has around 2300 questions then it means you need at least 35-40 days of full time studying.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I've watched Kaplan videos, read the notes once, read FA twice, and I'm almost done with Kaplan QBook (I get 60-65% of the questions right).

2300 questions are around 48 blocks. I think they can be done in 24 days if I start by doing 2 per day.

What do you think about this? or is too much?

Thumbs Up Make it 30 days

Yes you can finish 2 blocks per day but to be in the safe side plan for at least 30 days of full 8-12 hours per day of UW-only work up.

You may finish it in less than that but it's better to add some more days. Your start may be slow perhaps one block per day and then you can increase your speed. Also there might be some days when you are off the mood and may not be so productive so it's better to say 30 days.

The current USMLE Step 1 exam is consisting of 46 questions per block and am not sure whether UW has updated their maximum allowed number of questions per block to 46 or it is still the old 48. Also their total number of questions varies from time to time so it may not be 2300. Therefore all our calculations are approximate.

Wishing you great luck and don't forget to come back here and tell us how you did

But if I do 2 blocks per day, wouldnt I need less than 8-12 hrs? Answering a block in an hour, and reading the model answers in another hour. That's 4 hrs for 2 blocks.

Are UW Qs more difficult than Kaplan Qbook's? Will they take more time? Coz I finish a block and read the model answers in 2 hours in Kaplan Qbook.

UW is certainly several folds more difficult than Kaplan Qbook. Moreover, you have to do random timed blocks (both of these were not so strict criteria in your Qbook practice).
Reading the answer explanations of one block will certainly take more than one hour (if you do it appropriately).
From what we have seen and from our friends experiences nobody was able to finish more than a maximum of three blocks even with full 12 hours study time.

Although this poll talks about UW CK bank but it might give you an idea, have a look here
