Embarrassed Are Kaplan videos a must for Step 1 preparation?

I just 'seriously' started my preparation now and I've collected the kaplan lecture note books and the pdf versions of most of the recommended books as mentioned in 'Best ______ books for Step 1' threads. But I've learnt from all the exam experience threads that most of the students/high scorers do mostly KLN with videos, FA and Qbanks.

So my questions are:
1) Are KLNs the best way for intn'l students who are new to the US study format?
2) Are the other recommended books more geared for the US students and not for intn'l students? Or can I use them just like the KLNs if I like?
3) Is it a must watching the videos by Kaplan? Can I prepare as effectively using other (that are not videos) sources or are the Kaplan videos highly recommended for grabbing concepts?

The thing is, the Kaplan online prep courses will be a bit heavy on me financially especially since I'll also be having to pay for a lot of other things for the USMLE in the future and I'd like to skip that expense if possible. Also, I live in a remote area where the internet speed is not that great so I don't even know whether my system will support watching them online. And I know of no other ways of obtaining them - are DVDs of them available?

And please do overlook anything that might sound silly, I'm quite naive about the USMLE procedures! I'd appreciate any advice for starters or anything regarding Step 1 prep

The lecture notes I have are really good, but in the videos they also add some things not mentioned in the books.

They sometimes say:"ok, here's something not in your books, what is very important blablabla...."
and what I furthmore like is that they take notes directly into the slides, or even draw diagrams not mentioned in the books.

So don't take to many different books, stick to a few ones and memorize them.
Kaplan videos 2010 can be easily found online, but they are huge (60gb).

Thanks Curacao. So by sticking to a few means, do you mean I should stick to one book for one subject or like one series for everything?

Right now, I'm quickly turning through the pages of the books I have and reading a few topics to find out which books are suit my reading style the best (or simply put, to find out the ones I like!). And I guess since I don't have the videos and I have an older version (2010) of the KLNs, I'm currently leaning towards the other books sucj as CMMRS for Micro, Pathoma for Patho, HY Anatomy. But I'm worried whether it'd be to time consuming and not exactly right for a foreign medical student whose course was not oriented according to the Step 1. Am I worrying for no reason or is it justified?!?

Please do help me out guys! And I no of no-one who has the Kaplan DVDs and it takes about a a whole day to download 1 GB so downloading 60 GBs is gonna take 60 or atleast 30 days and wasting a month on just downloading study material doesn't seem like the right thing to do!

Basically I'd like some assurance that my way of going through the other books would be as effective as the going through KLNs and videos cause everywhere I look, I see people doing the latter. And I've seen most people recommended Method 1 (which is going with KLNs & videos) in the "USMLE Step 1 Preparation Books and Plan". So I'm just left in doubt about my choice of going with Method 2 (i.e the other books)

Default where to get Kaplan videos

Hello, I have the same questions referring to the member "Jeesan" posted thread, I appreciate any advice or help: basically the questions are:

1- is there anybody that tried using the books in First Aid book top recommendation list (which are not Kaplan lecture notes)? is it as good for IMGs as Kaplan lecture notes ?

2- where I can get Kapaln videos/DVDs ? or links

I appreciate your kind soul in advance.
