I go with d ..

Schizophrenia doesnt imply incompetence, Assume competence until you cant have a meaningful conversation with the patient ( kaplan)
Husbands consent not required for abortion (100 cases)

Correct Answer D is right

yes, D is the right answer..

thanks @ dr.nitowl....for your explanation

yes, being schizophrenic does not imply as incompetence...schizophrenics can give consents for all the procedures and they are regarded as competent pts unless there is serious psychiatric damage provided in the form of a certificate and abortion doesn't need consents of anyone except the pt.

for example-----think it as reverse.......the pt. wants not to abort and her husband wants to abort as he believes child is in danger coz she is schizophrenic...so, what will you do?-----we can't just abort the pt. without her consent..ofocurse it's her own body, choice lies with herself..

autonomy plays major role here.....pt came and willingly accepted for abortion...it's taken as competent.....it's your duty to honour her wishes and abort the pt is the best way to manage...
delaying the procedure may lead to increased gestation and risk of abortion too...

Ya these cases do confuse you sometimes.
I still remember the line said by that doctor in Kaplan videos. In most of question when you don't know the answer go with that option that inside you feel is least possible answer. Hahaha
