Skin Hair Stem Cells!

A 35 yr old male consults the physician for evaluation of hair loss...he states his hair loss is disturbing his daily activities..on further examination the physician explains it's due to the defect of stem cells your hair loss has been documented..where do these cells present in the skin..?

a) stratum spinosum
b) stratum corneum
c) stratum basalis
d) stratum granulosum
e) dermis
f) granulation tissue

Correct Answer E is right

the correct answer is E) dermis

stem cells in skin are of 3 types

1) for reepithelialization----these cells regenerate the epithelium ---present in stratum basalis

2) hair follicle stem cells---these cells regenerate the hair follicles which arises from the dermis......these are present on the entire length of the follicle--though they are present throughout the length of the follicle numerous cells are present in dermis

3) melanocyte stem cells----these cells regenerate the pigment producing cells---present in melanosomes of stratum basalis...
