Heart Increased afterload in acute AR?

UW says that the ventricular afterload will increase in acute Aortic Regurgitation (AR). Why would it increase?
What I think: Decreased Cardiac output in acute AR --> Decreased BP---> Increased compensatory sympathetic outflow.
Does someone know this, please correct me or explain. Thank you.

Imagine you work as a guard and too many people at the door you standing behind, if the door is broken and all of the sudden they come through, how much effort it will take you to send them out now?!.

Same idea with acute AR all this amount of blood into the LV will be a huge a work for the heart to deal with forming additional afterload.
