again fellas. thanks for your support. )))
i'm typing with my galaxy and it takes bit long.

so i will write my prep and all other stuff after i get my score.
now about the exam:

general info: kaplan,fa,uw is a trio that works. they do cover about 75-80 of the exam.
about 30% of qs were easy ones- look at stem and that's it.
30% medium - i mean 2 eveb 3 step questions. but with knowledge and logic answer can be found.
25% hard ones - for me at least. when i was stuck between 2 answer choices or the questions that didn't made sense to me.
15% "experimental and research qs" they took this from this mouse and put it 8n another one and ... lol or some obscure pluripotent cell transcription factor's relationship with other genes... these qs sound very very hard. but it's pure logic game imo. about 70% of those can answered through thinking.

so as i sad it's doable. the main thing is to be comfortable with easy and medium ones, couse they make the majority of the test.

time outs :d - I block 5 min - II block 5 mi - III 5 min - IV 20 min - V 5 min- VI block 15 min- End !

i marked 50 questions in total i.e. 7 qs a block. these were qs that i really doubt about.... don't have an idea how many qs i've got correct in them.

lets go it subject wise:

behavioral : mostly physician pts relationship, had q on schizoid, no defence mechs or other stuff.
biostats: had around 20 qs in it. nnt.odds ratio.arr.ppv. hardy weinberg eq. i did all stat questions at the end of a block. generally DO USE UWEAPON BIOSTATS PART. they tests biostats in very different ways like boards.
biochem: metabolism was easy-medium. molecular was weird with research and lab type qs.
genetics: had q on dominant negative mut.cf.hw equilibrium. and some pedegree problems. mostly medium level qs.
embryo- was tested on annular panc( had to pick it from ct pic). thyroid duct cyst. don't remeber more
micro- was mostly easy imo. all the toxins, virulence factors. fa covers micro very well( levinson is reviewer of micro section)
immuno- hypersens. rxns. all 4 in different diseases like wegeners guil.barre and so on. some qs on interleikins and infs. again fa is very good here. imuno defficiences wasn't tested.
pathology - pathoma is very usefull to cover the new concepts in patho. overall patho was good for me.
pharma - fa is good(kazung is a reviewer) ans. all receptor function was tested imo :d with curves and diagrams. you one drug given then another and .... about system pharm was normal. fa coverst
them nicely.
cvs- had 2 audios mvp and as ( i hope). question stems are not informative in these tests. physiology was tested many ways. sitting and stanging up. laying down... you arrows up and down. but again kaplan and brs are very good in these kind of qs.
endocrine- know ca and pth inside out. all thehormone messengers. was tested on vit d and growth factors about 4 times. tsh I choice in thyroid assesment. i thing tests were normal.
gi- anatomy was fair game. thanks god i was good in it. blood vessels and all the abdomal stuff. with cts ! i don't k ow for sure but think that about 30% of qs had pictures. know all cong.malformations and malabsorbtions.
hema onco - hema was good. tested fe metablism, acd. dic.aml. mm 2 ti.es with rouloux formation. lead poisoning. onco was medium with all the protooncogenes and antitumor stuff. fa patho has to be known cold :d
musk- not very hard. had one weird question about thumb pain. k ow upper extr. muscles. esp rotator cuff and muscles like t.major. trapezius.serratus. they test this stuff.
neuro- was full of pictures had medulla midbrain diagram. had 2 gross pic of hemispheres.had to identify silvian fissure. another was with huge meningioma (i hope). know all oclusion syndromes and structurss affected. had q on tuberous sclerosis.
renal- medium to hard. physiology was tested in and out. from tf/p to oxygen consumtion of kidney cells. make sure you know renal stones and cancer types.
repro- had 2 weird anatomy qs about ovarian artery and pecti ate li e relationship(huh). anatomy was the hardest part here. phys was good. tested on ovarian ca and ascites. had q on clomiphene action.
resp- be very comportable with obstr vs restrictive diagrams had 3 qs on them tested in different manners. had scc pic with keratin pearls. also ciliary dysunction and bronchiectasis.

well fellas i decided to write this stuff couse i remember them now.
i hope for a score between 230- 250)))) 3 agonising weeks to go before the score.

p.s. i want to say that anatomy was heavily tested. i think it was III subject in frequency after patho and phys.
good luck and sorry for typos here )))

Congratulations beka! I guess you are so relieved right now! I was starting to freak out while I was reading your post. I wanted to ask you if the questions looked similar to any NBME's or UWSA. Did you feel that renal and cardio physiology q were harder than the ones in UWorld?
Thanks!

yes i've got about 5 qs copy paste from free samples and nbmes.
uw cardiac phys is very good has helped for sure. renal was weird in ways of graphs but do practice tests and you'll be fine.

no exam isn't harder than uw. i think it's a bit easier than uw.
thanks

Hey beka! I have another question...did you encounter any questions regarding vaccination indications, most common causes of death on group ages or prevention type like the ones in DIT? Thanks!

Correct Answer this info may be helpful for recent exam takers

" USMLE weights all multiple choice questions equally within each Step exam. Thus, answering relatively easy questions or relatively difficult questions correctly provides equal progress toward meeting the minimum passing score. This urban myth may derive from a misunderstanding about the statistical methods called equating that ensure that the 3-digit score is comparable regardless of what test form or what time of year a candidate tests. The statistical processes make small adjustments to scores achieved on test forms that contain relatively more or less difficult items. Scores on tests with relatively difficult items are adjusted up and those achieved on relatively easy items are adjusted down. These adjustments ensure that the scores that are awarded are comparable regardless of the particular combination of items on any examinee's test form and ensures fairness for all test takers."

"How does Experimental Questions affect your Exam Taking Strategy?

Knowing not all the questions are scored tells you that you should not spend too much time on any one question. For all you know, it may be the experimental one and will not be scored. Itís more important to make sure that you donít leave any question blank. You have a better chance of scoring that way.

For more information about this topic read the following post"

Awesome, Bless You.
And do you agree with the Goljan slides plan? OR is there more/less stuff that I look up? And is it necessary to do NBME's. I have only 2 weeks, with so much revision. I'll obviously do the NBME's, if it makes a diffference. What's your advice?

just go through 7-11-12 & 13.
i haven't done goljan's slides, but i felt very good in pictures and there were about 30 of them. if you can do it in these 2 weeks you'd better go through them.
practice with auscultation. the question stems tend not to give you a clue about murmur you should guess it purly from audio version.

good luck

One more question about CT's- do you have to guess the picture or you have to mark the structures?

same here!!!

Hey Beka, glad that you are done with it.. logged in after long time on this forum.. Knew you would post your exam day experience this is the first thread I opened.

I gave my step 1 on 20th oct .. yes, Behavioural was weird for me too.. more of doc-pt relationship questions.. on whole test was doable, time was more than adequate..

So, we will be expecting the results same week!! Good luck to both of us!! meanwhile enjoy the days, Me got back from a short trip..

My two cents:

* get your basics strong its highly tested(all test takers tend to remember the WTF questions but there are lots of basic straight forward Qs don't get them wrong, there were a time or two when I had to scratch my head the easiest answer vowing to vast syllabus. Do not worry much about the WTF kinda Qs where the probability of getting them right is far less than the easier Qs which could be answered well

* practice time management. NBMEs n UWSA are for 4 hrs and we take break as we want(I used to take break more than 15min) at home but thats not the case on real test test, in a break you have to give your fingerprints to go out and get checked while return to your computer which might take 1-2 min and time flies in the break period

*KEEP LOOKING AT the time. Try to finish off answering all the Qs in a block with spare 10min so you can review the marked Qs. dont spend too much time on a single Qs

*Get a good night sleep the night before the exam and stay cool because it is easier than UW.

*do not miss to do free 150

* Difficulty level grading by me UWSA>NBME>real test
but the UWSA 3 digit score will be more than NBME score even if you get same number of Qs wrong in either of them. So, both UWSA and NBME are scored differently(God knows how they do it?? ) No one knows exactly how the real test is scored. So, all you can do is get maximum Qs right.

i'm typing with my galaxy and it takes bit long.

so i will write my prep and all other stuff after i get my score.
now about the exam:

general info: kaplan,fa,uw is a trio that works. they do cover about 75-80 of the exam.
about 30% of qs were easy ones- look at stem and that's it.
