Kaplan Medical Kaplan Assessment Test

Just took the Kaplan Assessment test 1.
I'd figure I'd write something about the assessment because I've been trying to search the web for someone to speak about this assessment and to say if its worth doing or not.

I'm not speaking of the diagnostic test that comes free with kaplan but the full on 8 hour assessment test that is received when the qbank is purchased.

Here is my percentage per block.

Block 1- 80%
Block 2- 80%
Block 3- 74%
Block 4- 65%
(took a 30min break here was starting to wear out)
Block 5- 78%
Block 6- 76%
Block 7- 65%
-took a 5min break between all the blocks except long break in the middle.

Total percentage 74%
Total Q's 322

What I found positive out of the assessment test.

Definitely made me realize my endurance is still something I need to work on.
Good graphs to show areas of strengths/weaknesses.
Questions seemed pretty close to NBME in my opinion.

The things I disliked about the assessment test
No 3 digit score.
Some questions really came from no where (like 2-3 per block). But I'm assuming that's normal from what I've heard.

Would I recommend it?
If your looking to see where you stand? No.
If your looking to see what areas your weak in? Yes

I have no idea what 74% means?
If anyone has any idea how to convert my score into a 3 digit score please help. Ive seen links online but they no longer work.

hey, I have done both the assessment tests, and you do get a 3 digit score in the end. I am not sure of how predictive it is of the real deal but gets your mind prepared for the marathon
I got 71% and a score of 228

Are you sure you are talking about KAPLAN assessment tests?
I did both tests few weeks ago and none of them gave 3 digit score. Just like Sobe wrote, only %.

hello casandra , sobe

Yeah i did the assessment forms that come with the q bank.
it gives you number of correct questions for 322. not exactly 3 digit usmle score . i was given 228 and 226.(71% and 70%)
but like in uworld it didn't specifically say 3 digit score

ok, everything is clear now. the number of correct qs is not equal to the 3 digit score though.

@sobe - I also searched for any opinions on those tests but to be honest I have found very few of them. I figured either people are not using this test or for some reason not talking about it openly. I only saw opinions/posts of people who scored 71% or less.
I found one scorelator online (i'm sure there are more, just google it ) and according to this one, 75% corresponds to around 240 (which is actually a calculation using simple math 0.75 x 322). But then again, I don't really believe any other scorelator than NMBEs online

Thanks Casandra.

I'm also thinking the 3 digit score probably wont come into play for the kaplan assessment until more people take it.
When you review a question and look for the percentage of individuals got a certain question correct. Every question says insufficient data.
So I'm assuming once they have a larger sample of people who have taken the assessment then they can put it on a bell curve and give it a 3 digit score.
