Default Step 1 Exam Dec/Jan Open Seats?

Hi ... so I have my exam booked but want to move it up a week. However I can't find any open date. Are Dec/January months usually like this because it seems according to the website that they are mostly gone? There are 2 centers nearby, and the others a few hours away. The closest date is at a center 2 hours away. I don't know if I should cancel mine and wait till a seat opens up :/

I'm in Toronto and I have looked. 2 centers are within 30 mins from me. The other 2 locations are about 2 - 3 hours away. All seem to have most seats gone. Is it a good idea to travel farther? I don't want travelling getting in the way of my last day or two , but it might be the only option.

one week wont really do you that much good. if you delay it (and esp if you're playing for it) its not worth it in my opinion. get at three weeks more if you're really trying to improve your score. 2-3 hours of traveling on the day of exam is not ideal. but if that's the only option you're left with, not much can be done and you may have to travel.

It might be worth it to drive further for the spot of your choice, you can always study on the way there assuming you got a driver.
In Canada I'm sure you can take the Step in the afternoon.

So I probably will be cancelling even though I feel bad about it due to pressure from parents, family, friends, etc. I found a seat too, but I'm just wondering if I cancel, how long would I have to wait till I can reschedule, because the date I want might be gone by then ( I have to call prometric to pay the fee for cancelling ).
