Default No atrophy according to First AID for UMN lesion

But I thought that you would get disuse atrophy, since the alpha motor neurons are not even able to fire.

Is the reasoning for No Atrophy, because of INTACT muscle spindle reflexes for these UMN lesions? Which keeps the muscles from undergoing atrophy?

Or is this a bit of a gray area?

(In Kaplan, for UMN Lesions, it does say "Disuse atrophy of muscles' in the chart for UMN lesions btw)

i think i need a bit of a break!

so i understand that you DO infact get atrophy, but its called "disuse atrophy of muscles'.

am i confusing something here? or am i over-thinking this a little too much?
