I know its a little overkill for step 1. But after reading through the online consult version, I decided that no matter what, I WILL find time to read this gem of a book!

Also, the pages just seem to fly by, because not only does Costanzo make everything so simple, but the author also makes physiology exciting, and suspenseful, because i seem to fly through the pages, wanting to know more and more!

i promised myself NOT to buy books for step 1 (because i wouldn't need them after i take the exam). but i'm making an exception for Costanzo Physiology. now going to buy the hardcopy, and finish reading it that way.

I think I could EASILY get through that book in 1 week. I think this might be my favorite book of all time. Anybody else feel this way about this book?

actually, they are both excellent. (but i'm reffering to the large costanzo book).

in medical school, i made the mistake of using the Guyton Textbook as my primary source (reading relevant chapters assigned), and brs as a secondary source. but i got lost in the details, and drifted away from using brs altogethr though.

i wish i had read the large costanzo from the beginning. i feel quite strong in physiology, so i think BRS would be more than sufficient to browse through right now. but the large costanzo book is simply brilliant! i can't praise it enough! i get a genuine pleasure from reading it!

there is absolutely no memorization in physiology. you either get it, or you don't. i'm not sure how much physio will help me with boards. but the information will help me with subjects like pharm, and patho.

Yes, I feel the same way especially with the text version more than the BRS version. It is simply brilliant. Definitely my favorite book of all time. :)

I wish they were all written so brilliantly. I just think that physio is such an awesome subject. To know medicine, you must have this knowledge. And BTW, you only need to read that book once and the details will stick forever. :D

i couldn't agree more, about just reading it once and knowing the details forever. that is exactly how i feel now that i'm going through it. like you said, a solid understanding of physiology is essential for medicine, especially if you plan to do internal med!!!!

at first, i was only going to scan BRS or Kaplan physio. But I think for this subject, I want to know these principles, and implant them in my head forver...to the point where i'm able to teach others the same principles in that physiology book, whether its next week, next month, or 5 years from now!
