Biochemistry Folic Acid and RNA synthesis

Can someone please tell me why folic acid is not required for RNA synthesis and is required for DNA synthesis?

Because it's used as 1 carbon donor for thymidylate synthase with makes thymidine monophosphate (dTMP) which will then get phosphorylated to be used in DNA synthesis. Recall that RNA doesn't use thymidine, rather it uses uracil which is thymidine without that methyl group donated by folate.
