Smile Russian IMG with Score 200

hi , i am IMG form one of the russian college and preparing for exam ... and i am living in USA since 2 years and a Permanent Resident (Green card holder).. i just fear , that , it will be hard for me to score above 230 .. so , anybody , please tell me , what is my chance of being selected / match in residency program if i get 200 in usmle step 1 and step 2 ?? i a damn sure i will pass it with first try , but not with high marks (
and i am doing kaplan lectures + goljan patho + First aid + First aid Q&A -- will this material will be enough or i need to do more ?? what you think about - first aid cases , Uworld online preparation ?? are they necessary , or the material with me is enough ??
please help me..

Well... Depends on your strengths... Anyhow do some timed (yeah... and paid too) NBME's prior to taking the real thing (as many as you can). Good luck!

Default usmle

definitely aim for higher than 200 - you will have a hard time matching with that score.

scores are getting higher and higher so you should aim for 230 minimum, and at least that way if you score lower you tried your best.

One of my colleagues matched in this year in General Surgery program in NY - he has a score for Step 1 - 210. Not too much hah? He is from Ukraine.

So I can tell - everything is possible.

Also I do have another colleague - he is trying to get matched 3 years - he does have a high scores... And nothing happens.

If you are a GC holder - it's much easier for you to get matched - because you don't need visa-support.
But anyway- you have to do your best.

I am replying to question about - where u can buy first aid in russia ?

I don't know exactly about it , but on ebay - you can get ebook for $8-$10 and you can make print out of it later on by yourself at your home . i had done like that . Cheap and good. :-) why to pay $48 ..lollzz )))

Or you can download it from torrent, as olechka said. :-) i have no idea about torrent. :-)

I don't understand why someone would pay hundreds of dollars to take this test (thousands if you do all the steps plus the match and everything) and then be too cheap to buy the actual version of FA, which is one of the most important books for your prep.
Some things just amaze me.

If you are aiming for a 200, you might as well not even take the test.
The fact that you have a greencard definitely helps, but you need a good score if you want to get into a decent program. If you are going for any program, anywhere, and you don't care how far it is from the next big city etc and how good the hospital is, then you might have a chance with 200.
Also, matching depends on lots of different things like USCE, research experience, etc, but I trust you know that.
Programs usually pick which applicants to look at based on their scores (there is usually a cutoff, they dont look at the applications with scores below a certain number).
You are lucky. You have not taken the test yet. Think about what your goals are here. Do you really want to spend all the money to do the steps and the match? If yes, don't you want to have a chance you will match?
Rethink your target score!
