Kaplan Medical Need some opinions on Kaplan Videos 2010

What do you guys think of Kaplan 2010 videos versus the 2010 kaplan books, I don't think I'll have time to do the books and videos so I might just choose 1 or the other.

Do you think I should just watch the videos and add to my First Aid 2010 ? Or do you think the books are important to read?

Man...Books are more important than videos
FA + Kaplan books + UW = very good score (but you have to be serious)
If you have enough time, watch some parts like physiology & pharmacology.

What about the fact that Kaplan says the books are incomplete? Also Kaplan path book seems to suck and most people say it does. Im sure Rapid review and BRS Path is better.

Yeah, I think BRS would be enough
RR is too long man!
Kaplan must say that books are incomplete, bcz if they didn't who will buy videos?

Kaplan Notes are complete. You don't need to watch the videos. Just do questions.

Cool

RR is GOLLLLDEN, it might be a little more time consuming than the Kaplan Path, but trust me it is worth it, add goljan audios to it, and this guy makes amaaaazing concepts (integrating biochem, physio, anat, embryo and pharm where applicable) I've gotten a little behind schedule but i'm on the 5th chapter in RR3....and the only thing that will take time is General Pathology, because he makes sure he's making a foundation for Systemic Pathology.

I've done his Systemic path with my Pathology class in Med school, and they go a LOOOOT faster than Gen. Path, but man the way this guy explains gen path and integrates, those concepts are embedded in my brain, at least till i need to review them again! Plus he co-authored RR biochemistry also, so he reviews little bit of cycles and metabolisms here and there also (good thing he does it with Path, so you don't need to worry about clinical biochem when you do biochem because you will know the reasoning behind the diseases anyways because he integrates them so well).

In the audios he quizzes you after he goes over a concept, as to hammer that concept into your head! Not only that he goes through some weird questions that over the years his students have gotten, and he teaches you the mechanisms of everything [he says USMLE pathology is all mechanisms, concepts and linking]. I'd say if anything keep RR as your primary source for PATH.

RR3 = Review of Robbins Path!!!!!!

he says it himself that before he wrote his review he got most of his material from Robbins, and then he lists additional explanations from his research on things that even HE couldn't understand from Robbins because they were so poorly written!!!!

plus there are 100 pg HY and 36 pg HY notes of his, I've gone over them and they are Gold Standard maaan! this guy knows what is HY!

In your post you seem to seamlessly blend Rapid review and Goljan audio as if they are 1 synced up source. Its hard to tell in your comments when you are talking about RR versus Goljan audio.

People often say they go together so well but to me they are 2 very distinct sources. The audio is much more high yield and specific not going into nearly every detail that can be found in RR. So when you make these comments please comment on each item separately so its easier to follow.

Moreover, I think RR is a great book, but I think its most useful if you've been through it at least once during your path course and then using it to review in the final month or 2 of USMLE study. If you haven't gone through it once it will take you a colossal amount of time to do it. Probably easily 2-3 weeks full days. These people who say they read it in a week their first time.. I really question how much they have retained.

Kaplan path is garbage and I would never do it. But to say RR takes a bit more time then Kaplan path is a bit of a joke. Kaplan path is basically half the size of RR (or less) if you just read the book.

Right now im doing BRS path to finish the 2/3 of path I didn't already do in RR (which I did the first 10 chapters). After BRS I will try and go back to RR as I go along in my study with my other sources: Kaplan Q bank, Uworld, FA2010, Some kaplan books, my own charts for micro/pharm.

Are you from a Caribbean school?

Thanks for your suggestion.
