Unhappy First week of Kaplan's Qbank! Disappointed

Hi guys! I'm an international medical student preparing for the step 1.

I have been studying since september. I went through the Kaplan books once and through the classes. I haven't read FA but I'm just using it to review the questions and to write any additional information (planning to read it page by page after finishing Kaplan's Qbank) and before Uworld.

This week I started the Kaplan's Qbank and I feel very disappointed, I'm scoring about 52% (random, timed, unused questions, blocks of 46 questions) some few times around 60% but many times 48-50%. I am reviewing the questions with the explanations there and checking FA (by the way it's taking me so long). As I can see I'm below the average.

Could you give me any advice? Should I keep going like that or do I need to change my way of studying? My plan is to take the exam by april.

Thank you in advance guys!

It does definitely take time to review it all. I Would say good plan to go through both Kaplan and UWorld. 50% is not too bad don't worry too much about your score at this time. I knwo it sounds counter intuitive but remember that for every wrong question you get you are learning something new. just make sure you read the explanations provided and that you understand why that is the right answer, it does take time but in the end hopefully you will learn a lot more than you would simply reading the book. Best of luck studying!

Cool

Thank you guys! So I will use this more as a learning tool than being worried about my score! That's true, every wrong question is an opportunity to gain knowledge and fill gaps!

Should I keep doing it in a random way?

I wish you the best!

Do this way:

Subject - all 4 Ps. Example: Cardio - Path, Pathophy, Pharm, and Physio.
Endocrine - Path, Pathophy, Pharm, and Physio. So forth. Then later, random subject plus 4 Ps.

Hope this helps!!

I did UWorld QBank first and did it subject by subject. After I did the whoel QBAnk I then went back through all the ones i got wrong random. After I finished UWorld I switched it over to Kaplan I did it all random. Its all a personal preference really, however you feel more comfortable. The only thing to do for suer is to keep on doing just questions you have not done yet until you finish the QBank.
