Australia Minimal effort to PASS step 1?

Hi All,

i'm an Australian graduate finishing the last 2 weeks of internship (hooray!). I'm on the family med/GP training pathway and plan on completing it here in Australia. I understand that the American Family med board and Australia has an agreement, however i still need to pass the USMLE.

It's been a while since i've covered any path/biochem/physiology. I'm not looking to get a great score, just pass. How much time do i realistically need to put into study? i was planning on just reading/annotating FA several times and giving it a crack.

Any advice?

Default interesting question

If youre planning "just to pass", it does not guarantee you any residency, even family practice, however, if you stick to your plan, make sure you have strong contacts,
Best regards

As i said in my post, i don't plan on doing any residencies in the US. I'm going to finish the FRACGP (Aus family med board) and then locum in the US because there is a reciprocal arrangement between the two colleges.

Now back to my actual question. Is it possible to just study for a few hours afterwork everyday for a month or 2 and pass step 1?
