First Aid First Aid Q&A ... USMLERx

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew whether the First Aid Q&A book questions are same as the questions in USMLERx qbank? I think they are ...but I am not sure and was wondering if someone knew for sure. Thanks!

Also, would you recommend doing the First Aid Q&A book or Kaplan Qbook...if I only have time to choose 1 out of these two (of course I am doing USMLE World)...or my other option would be to not do any of these books and just review the UW for the 3rd time. Please give me your opinions...THANKS!

USMLERx has all the questions seen in FA Q&A + many more. But I don't like it. It's just not exam style. They just ask straight facts without twists so I don't like it.
UW three times !!! What are you talking about ... What's the point? Why do you repeat even twice? Go find another qbank...

Default Kaplan Qbook or First Aid Q&A book

Thanks for the input guys...so sounds like I should not do USMLE World 3times...i thought that might be crazy too...but i thought that I read that somewhere to do...oh well.

So, now please give me your opinion on whether I should do Kaplan Qbook or First Aid Q&A book?...which one do you think would be more helpful or in other words is better? PLEASE LET ME know ASAP! THanks!

FA and QRX are almost the same Qbank. Qrx is a bit expanded and has some simple logic that FA does not display. But to review and be prepared for the exam, FA provides you with a detailed review on principles and what is often asked on the exam. UWorld is by far one of the best to have your hands on, even if it's the old version of it.

if you use the qbanks properly, it doesn't matter how many times you do the qbanks.

usmleRX- is a must, continue to do it. It makes you recall things quickly. It makes you know obscure facts that the test will ask you. This is what seperates the men from the boys.

usmleWorld- I know people that have taken this qbank more than 3 times. Each time they've picked other things up that they missed before. Doing this more than 2 times is ok to do, as long as you are learning from the qbank and not just looking at the questions and saying "Oh I remember this". You need to be saying "this is the answer and this is why its the answer"

Review of Pathology is a qbook that is good to use as well. If you know 65 - 70% of it, you will do awesome in path.

It doesn't matter what qbank you do. Just do lots of different ones.. That way you can see the same questions from different angles. This is what the baords are doing. They are asking you the same questions that you've done in your qbank, the only difference is they are asking you in a different way and switching up the language.

Know your language and know there is more than 5 ways to ask a question

I agree - I think it's more about how much you absorb from any one source - not which source you use.. so Rx / Kaplan / FA Q&A whatever helps you memorize and recall.

Time and time again, however, First Aid and UW seem to be the most popular resources that people use. I've seen people get 99 with only those two. I've also seen people barely pass with those two and many more resources.

There's an iphone app too from USMLERx if you're looking for something like flashcards for quick review and if you don't want to do a qbank. It's based on FA 2009 though - maybe you'll like it
