This exam about understanding the main concepts. So, if yu want reach yur goal get study deeply and it is not important to jump from Kaplan to Goljan when yu understand the subject. Do more qs after each subjects and check yur level by taking several NBME .

It is not important how many times yu reread. What's more important it what yu understand, because in yur prep yu will return to review several times to some topics. when yu done with subject do qs on it and yu will see where spend time more. Yur qs will be solved when yu start study actively.))) good Luck!

Hi there...

270 is lofty and very difficult to achieve - it will require mastery of the concepts as well as mastery of the details.

The first thing that jumped out at me here is that you admit to having poor basic science scores, which indicates the first major hurdle you are facing. With that piece of info in mind, I highly suggest that you use a combination of Kaplan (they are overly detailed but in your case it is probably a good idea) and I suggest that you review using your basic science textbooks as well.

Now, some may argue with that, but I'm keeping in mind your extremely lofty goal of 270, and the fact that you admit to being weak in the basics. If you go through Kaplan slowly, be sure to move forward only when you feel that you've truly mastered the material (understand it and be able to apply it by doing questions).

Create a plan and a schedule, and stick to it strictly. Each day you want to move forward, while making sure to review the material you've previously mastered so that the concepts and details stay straight in your mind.

A good schedule would look something like this for you:
1. Morning: Kaplan biochem
2. Afternoon: Review textbooks on unclear topics (to get more detail)
3. Late afternoon: Question bank (do questions pertaining to the info you learned during the day, take notes, and fill in any blanks)

Keep to a schedule such as this and over time you will truly master this material. A couple months before taking the real exam, consider a review course as well to refresh yourself of the highest yield info.

Best of luck!
