Help DIT taking too long, should I continue? 18 days to exam.

Hi everyone.

My Step 1 exam date is on the 7th of March (18 days left) and I have a few questions regarding how should I prepare. I began doing DIT about a month ago but I am still doing it and have reached halfway. I haven't gone through FA much. I have done about 40% of Uworld .

So it is clear that I am running out of time. So I am thinking of aborting DIT and then doing Uworld + FA.

Should i leave doing DIT since it is taking really long time? I am yet to do Webpath and Goljan audio notes.

My UWSA score was 190. I also heard that UWSA over predicts the performance.

Guys Please suggest me how should I prepare now with just 18 days remaining, I am really beginning to panic.

Thank you all in advance.

First and foremost take an NBME, they are the most predictive of your score on the step. You are correct about the UWSA and it overpredicting your score. If you take NBME and dont pass it or get close to a 200 then DO NOT TAKE THE EXAM...I have seen many posters on here with low nbme scores and think they will go and do good on the step but they fail it....this exam is too important to fail.
Keep on studying, do World at least 3 times and then take another nbme and your score will improve!

Good Luck

Hi jpudge12, thank you very much for your suggestions. Yes I will do the NBME to see where I stand. Due to some reasons I cannot do the online NBME, so can offline NBME predict the score like the online?

I have heard that we can calculate the score doing offline NBME as well. I have postponed my test twice and I don't want to postpone more. I am getting really anxious that I won't have time to prepare for CK and CS.

Regards

I will say do not take the exam.

It doesn't matter if you are not going to have time, you only have one chance to take the step 1 and that score is going to be on your record forever.

I am not an expert but I wouldn't take the test now.

Do Uworld, FA again with DIT, NBME online, Goljan audios...take your time.

Here the Step 1 scores of matched applicants in 2011, http://www.nrmp.org/data/chartingoutcomes11.jpg to get into a program you need at least more than 200.
