Spring Deals from Picmonic!

Hey USMLE Forums Students,

We're excited to let you know about two new offers we created for this spring, based on popular student feedback. First, we are currently offering a 50% discount on our product to all users when you enter the promo code SWEETDEAL. This brings the total price of the 6-month Step 1 Collection to $125! This is the discount that we were previously offering to schools through Campus Advocates, but we've decided to extend it to all users who visit our website. Let your friends and classmates know about this awesome deal, it's posted right on our homepage at www.picmonic.com.

Secondly, we're in the process of collecting research from our first class of Picmonic users regarding the effectiveness of visual learning techniques used in our program. For any students willing to contribute to our research efforts by filling out our short survey and agreeing to submit their Step 1 scores, we are offering the Step 1 Collection for $99 until you pass. That's a significant discount, and an unlimited subscription offer! You can find out more about this research effort and learn how to get started at www.picmonic.com/research.

I hope that one of these two offers will meet your needs and get you excited about the Picmonic learning system. We can't wait to hear what you think!

Good luck with studying,

-

Thank you Ronnie & Adeel.
I'm interested in the Research option but let me reassure that all you need is just the score or how I'd be contributing to the project?
I already took the survey but still didn't subscribe, is there a time limit between survey and subscription?
Regards,
Mohamed

Hey friends!

We're excited to introduce something BIG you've been asking for. This week marks the official launch of Picmonic Mobile!

This is a beta mobile site that is optimized for your smart phone. What does that mean? It means there might be a few kinks to work out, but we're ready to share this mobile version of Picmonic with you. The site's been revamped and there are some big changes in the design elements that makes it perfect for small screens. And now, we need your feedback.

You can get acquainted with the mobile site and read about the changes here. Or you can just visit m.picmonic.com on your smart phone and explore it yourself.

Once you've had the chance to check it out, be sure to give us some feedback in our mobile-specific forum.

We can't wait to hear what you think and take the next steps towards giving you an even better mobile site. Thanks for all your support so far!

What's New from Picmonic?

Hey USMLE Forum friends!

Hope everyone is gearing up for Step 1 (or for summer!) and feeling confident with so many exam dates coming up. Our whole team is rooting for you!

We've made a ton of new updates to our software features, giving you even more flexibility and options as you're studying. Be sure you log in to the application and check everything out, or get a quick overview on our blog.

Just this month, we added a new monthly subscription option based on your popular demand. A lot of our students were requesting varying subscription lengths, so we created an option that will meet everyone's needs. Now, if you want to study with Picmonic for the month before your exam, or every month for every exam in year 1 or 2, the option is available. You can read more about why we made the subscription switch here.

As always, we love chatting with students. If you have any questions, post them here, or shoot us an email at feedback@picmonic.com.

Thanks for all your support!

Adeel

We do have a special offer running right now, and we're excited to tell you about it.

If you want to find out more about becoming an advocate, visit our site and get started! http://picmonic.com/advocates

I think you should make it more affordable instead of wasting $$ on advertising. Word of mouth is the best advertisement.
It costs too much compared to other resources and the people are only interested in Micro.
I could not afford it (based on cost/benefit ratio) and therefore went for MicroCards. There are a lot of other people I spoke with who are interested but cannot afford Picmonic (again based on cost/benefit ratio).
One month subscription (the only affordable option) may work for AMGs but not for IMGs.
IMHO you should follow Walmart business model instead of Apple.
Just my 2cents.

Why

This is the weirdest picture/logo I have ever seen in any company.
What are they doing, the pilot and the beaver?
Why beaver is on fire?
Why pilot holds beaver's ...pectoral muscles?
Is the pilot - the picmonic and students are beavers?

I've found picmonic useful for topics which involve a lot of rote learning and not much need for comprehension...such as developmental milestones, lysosomal storage deficiencies etc, its really helped me a lot and id recommend it for this.

However I am alarmed by the inclusion of picmonics for pure physiology topics - even calling them "homeostasis basics", "cardiovascular basics" and even one with "bio statistics basics"

These topics should not be learned from memorization of isolated facts, and providing these picmonics may encourage people to study them in this way this rather than attempt to get a real grip on the basics...this could only ever cause real problems.

This is a terrible, terrible idea, and i'd encourage the authors to re-think what they are trying to achieve with providing picmonics for these subjects.

I hope it never catches on.

Definitely agree with the above statement. From what I've heard (and sort of tried) from classmates is that it works very well for heavy memorization topics; i.e. microbio, pharm, lysosomal storage diseases. I'm not sure about the efficacy of Picmonic for more conceptual topics, but memory of finer details seems like the program's forte.

I LOVE picmonic. It makes me so much more certain about my answers, simply because (for example), I know that there was a dog on a cycle (doxycycline) in the picture for knife gunner ship (Neisseria gonorrhea).

Random but... if anyone's looking to buy a Qbank (Picmonic + Pathoma + USMLERx is my favorite combination), my school just got a code to sign up for USMLE-Rx, expiring this Thursday, June 5th. The code is SUNYDOWNQMAX1 & it's $99 for 12-month subscription, which you can buy now and activate up to 6 months later if you prefer to wait. It's normally $200, so definitely a steal.
