Listening Share your daily study strategy please

Hi,
I am in my initial read for usmle step 1 .
I find it difficult to keep up with daily schedule, even though i study everyday.

Looks like every other day i feel the burn out, i know its too early to feel burnout, but if i read with full potential today, say 10 hrs concentrated, next day i feel total burnout, end up reading say 4 or 5 hours max,

I see many ppl who have done the exam say that they study 10 to 12 hours per day, its really suprising to me how you guys keep up the spirit and do it everyday....

So guys please post your daily routine,
How do u take breaks and how long
How do u motivate yourself to keep up with daily schedule
How do u divided ur day for studies
If u can post how ur whole day looks like with timing for studies and other daily routine u have, it will be very useful.

I know the whole exam prep is individualised,
But this thread could turn out to be beneficial for many..

So ppl preping for the exam and previous exam takers, please share your wisdom.
Thanks a lot everyone.

Default Some ideas

Hi,
I know, when you really need advice no one is usually forthcoming. I am still preparing for the exam so I don't know if my advice would be helpful. It was honestly very hard to do my first read of Kaplan. It was boring. Then I decided to read it like a story. Just trying to understand, as if you are reading a magazine. And that made a lot of difference. Once I did that, I moved on to DIT 2012. Doing that right now and really am learning a lot from DIT and picking up info from FA. Also, get Pathoma if you can, it's awesome. I would just finish the first read of Kaplan without notes (take some if you feel you absolutely have to) as if trying to just understand. Then do DIT (about 21 days), which takes almost 8-10 hrs if you do 7 lectures/day. If you have time on the side, read pathoma book one day then watch video for that chapter the next day. For example, let's say Monday you do DIT in morning (whatever times you have available). Take like an evening dinner break and then do Pathoma (reading takes me about an hour and a half for a chapter) reading. Tuesday morning do DIT as usual then in evening watch the chapter from Pathoma that you read on monday.

You get the idea, you have to tailor things according to your schedule, etc. But just read Kaplan (with concentration), finish it. Move on to DIT/Pathoma. Then move to UW with FA. If you get stuck in Kaplan it will go on forever. A friend suggested to me this pattern and it is working for me. I hope this helps.

Oh, don't forget to take short breaks of 5-10 mins every hour or 2 hours depending on your concentration span.
