Smile annie280 Step 1 Experience

exam experience was good...i had around 10 biostats questions, 1 t 1/2 calculation, several vmax and km graphs, around 5 biochem questions, 20 or so micro questions but they were easy...some had pics in them, around 10 anatomy scans and 1 exact uworld question of anatomy, 2 blocks were complete pathology, 3-5 behavioral questions and some crazy genetics electrophoresis questions.....in the whole exam.

it was like i was doing uworld again but the options were less confusing..time was not an issue..i read a question and marked the first answer that came to my mind and moved on...if a question seemed difficult i wouldnt even read it...i marked it and came back to it in the end.

I didn't feel tired during the exam...took 5 mins break after every block except in 4-5 block had a 20 min break for namaz and lunch..took 2 acetaminophen in this break too...regular caffeine, bananas, chocolates and urination in every break.

i had questions on calculating sensitivity, specificity, number needed to treat, negative predictive value and probability.

they were like uworld...the npv one was tricky because the prevalence was given and that had to be incorporated somehow...so i just made an educated guess...be familiar with biostats that comes in uworld...make 2x2 tables...practice them..learn the formulas...dont fear them..play with them.

physio was easier than uworld...cardiology physio was there but it was not that difficult.

omg step and medicine doc : anatomy and neuro were scans...scans..scans...spinal cord sections were many...3 or so if i remember correctly...1 brainstem section...rest of the anatomy was like uworld scans...pay attention to those ...understand them and it will be fine...had one question in the exam from uworld regarding a gardner and a bursa

tai35: i will upload my plan once i get my result..obviously you wouldnt want advice from a guy with a 200 score...

i would only recommend online uworld for the scans...anatomy in step 1 is mostly scans...i had 10 scans questions in comparison to 1 non scan question...understand the scans in uworld..quiz yourself...understand why the ivc is on the right and stuff like that...

other than that i did kaplan in my first read...but i had forgotten all that around exam time.
