Unhappy Aiming 260+, not really getting it! PLZ HELP,,

hi..
im an img from india.
finished 4th year, n having a long break from my internship for prepping USMLE Step1

i started prep 6-7 months before
my target was to get a 260+

finished kap qbank 75% of qs 1month ago
NBME 7..1month ago.. = 235

i thought it was a gud sign, since getting this before starting uworld
2 days before i gave nbme 11, n it DEVASTATED ME.. just 238!
btw, i cud only finish 20 blocks of uworld until now, n im getting 85-90s in every block.
d thing is my exam's 2 weeks away, n it is the end of eligibility period
ive to apply for eligibility period extension now, for atleast 1 month,

CAN U PLEASE guide me to effectively utilize my time, coming 40days, to get past 260+
What are the strategies to be employed?
DO i need to really get to tons of qs? and how is dat even possible for me considering im only doin 1 block uworld per day?

i think hard work is not paying off anymore,
i really think one need to come up wid bright tactics to excel past 260..
please guide me in this, im so confused..!

I'm in the same boat as you, except I'm an AMG. My plan is to do a few more question banks. At least 7000 total questions.

What are your preparations thus far? Have you gone through First Aid? Pathoma? Kaplan?

If anyone else who has advice, please share.

n i feel, uworld blocks scores are not getting predictive of actual exam scores

i feel nbme 11 qs was looot tougher than uworld, they had so much integration, ive not yet seen in uworld qs..

If you have any weak point, you are in luck because you can just focus on that. If not, I don't see any way up except to do lots practice problems. You can do 150 questions a day while reading every explanation in UWorld. Use UWorld as a learning tool, don't waste time looking things up in the middle of a question.

coz past 250, i think its how u approach q that matters rather than knowledge..is it?

My exam date is in June. I have done 1800 UWorld questions thus far, with the same NBME scores that you have. My other preparation is First Aid and Pathoma. My medical school had a very different emphasis than the USMLE.

Every year we have several students score 250, and once in a past year someone scored a 270, but 260 is extremely rare among AMGs because we only have 2 months to prepare and our cirriculum has little to do with UMSLE.

UWorld has a special online course on Biostats. In fact, that's the only course that they offer. If biostats was my weakness (rather than pathophys) I would do that.

Per question, it takes about 1 minute to do the question and 4 minutes to review it (even the ones I get correct), so that's 5 minutes per question. This means 3.5 hours per 46-question block.

I do everything on tutor mode, because the time isn't a problem for me. When I do the NBME's, I get 10-15 minutes remaining per 50-question block.

I've almost done with UWorld, will also do Kaplan and USMLE Rx. The NBMEs also comprise thousands of questions.

Do you know what it takes to increase 20-30 points in short periods? From what I hear, this is a nearly impossible task (e.g. few weeks). I'm not sure why people say this?

I looked at the sdn forums exam experiences earlier and it seems there are a ton of 260+ scores and few in the 270s - most of their prep is very short like you said but most echo that it was how they studied during the school year that mattered the most.
