First Aid Stress reading FA

hi guys..I have recently bought First aid for the usmle step 1 2013... I started reading but I feel like I wont remember all that....I feel like I should do a general review of physiology or anatomy before reading it...is it good to use the kaplan books before or after reading FA...WHAT is your experience regarding this problem...I feel like I dont understand some stuff there, like they need further reading in other books...should I spent time to be more deep in reading other books (more details)...please help me..your opinion is going to be of great value.... ((

If u need to build ur foundations in basic science (i think u do cuz u said u didnt understand some things in FA) then i think its better to read another book first.. Like kaplan..
Most people dont just study FA alone

Good luck

Watch selected videos of Kaplan and all of Pathoma, and you'd have a strong background to go through FA. I learned a lot more board relevant material through those videos than I did in my med school classes.

It's a bonus that the videos cover several high yield topics not covered in FA.

i think you should read the basic book first..like kaplan books. or other books for specific subjects. then FA would be easier.

Or better still u can read Kaplan book first then read the various organ/ system or subject in FA one after the other so that by the time u finish Kaplan books u would have finished FA as well. Also u may write some high yield info again into first if u don't find those high yield info already in FA.

Post Usmlerx

I want to share something you might find useful during your preparation, usmlerx it's a qbank based on FA I am using it in my last month of preparation but I think it would be very helpful for the first months of preparation after reading FA for the first time it is very helpful to focus in FA and at the same time practice questions. Doctors In Training helps to go through FA if you feel tired of just reading FA and also give you some useful mnonics but it is not as good as usmlerx qmax, at least in my experience.

Note: this qbank it is not better than usmleworld qbank, it's different but very helpful.

Hmmm my dear! There is always times like that in life. I am facing family challenges and emotion difficulties from people I thought who care but have turned out to be different in this crucial moment. This is not deterring me from my goal. This usmle needs full not partial attention. If u feel like not learning pls psyche urself and at least learn something. My seniors told me the secrete of passing well is consistency and dedication. Wish u well.

Are the teaching concepts good in umsle rx (like physio and pathophysio) ? In the back of first aid it says that it helps forfirst aid recall, but what if you're looking for more concept teaching (not testing/memorizing) questions like uworld?

Then I think Kaplan qbank is better for concept and detailed teaching aside uworld.
