Hey all

My exam is in Med Jan 2011 .. I will finish studying in 2 weeks and I have about 2 to 3 months for Qbanks, NMBE self assessment and final revision, and I am a little bit confused here : Is it better to register for UW for two months and do all the questions slowly with full explanation or is it better to register for Kaplan QBank for 1 month and do whatever I can do from it and then register for UW the other month?

I need help please!

I'm not sure, but people say begin with Kaplan, finish it, and then move on to UW. That's because UW is a little tougher. But, if you have to do only one Qbank, it's UW, and you must do it well i.e. read all the explanations carefully, write notes, ..etc.

For me, I started with UW and finished it in 2 months. Now I have 1 month left, and I intend to do Kaplan, a block a day + FA reading.

Qbanks can serve two purposes:
1) Enforcement of your review and knowledge and in this case you have to read the explanation in details and go back to your review materials whenever you see a topic that you don't understand or can't remember very well.
2) Practice and training for the exam and in this case you don't need to go into the details of the explanation. Just do as many questions as you can.

So depending on your stage of preparation you have to decide which purpose you want to go after. If it's number one then it might be wise to do UW alone. If it's number two then it might be wise to do both UW and Kaplan Qbank and perhaps USMLE Consult.
