Listening Am I ready? Exam on 23rd April!

So I did an offline NBME - was scared how I'd do on the online one so wanted to do an offline one first. I did NBME 11 and got 185/200 (92.5%) questions right, checked. I know there's no 100% accurate correlation between offline NBME scores and the real thing so I plan to do NBME 15 online in 2 days. Still, I can't help feeling a little relieved and also reinvigorated to take on the rest of the revision.

Oh and I timed myself, took 5-10 minute breaks at max and completed four blocks in 4.75 hours.

For the next several days, I plan to do FA + Goljan hi-yield notes, my own list of forgettable topics (including the ones here on the forum), more questions and review weak topics that I noticed on today's test.

Any comments would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks, yeah that's the plan! I'm playing it safe and not upping my expectations at the moment.

I took NBME 11 ONLINE and got 31 wrong and it was a 231. Only missing like 15 questions must be above 250

Thanks jpudge! That helps!

When is your exam?

I noticed I scored lower about two weeks ago... about 25-28 wrong so I vowed to read questions with full focus this time and, Praise be to God, did better. My husband's not letting me up my expectations either though... these exams are crazy...

Thanks! I hope that is so!

After NBME 7, this was the first one (and only) NBME I did properly - i.e. timed, with full focus and trying not to miss a single word. Eliminated each alternative option and only chose the one I was sure about. For a few confusing questions, had to take an educated guess. Made a couple of silly/shouldn't have kind of mistakes. So, after all that, I was actually wondering maybe NBME 11 was one of the easier forms, then I came online and saw people say it's on the tough side. I found it slightly easier than NBME 7 but then, that might be because I was very focused throughout compared to when I did the 7.

That said, there was one block I was kind of dreading to mark as I felt unsure about several questions but it turned out okay. I would totally recommend NBME 11 for test-taking!

Also, I think it made a huge difference that I focused on the exam very hard... because I'm an average student and I haven't mastered the whole content (like some people seem to!) so, if anyone feels like they scored lower on the NBME 11 and aren't doing good, that's probably not so. Just read each and every word very carefully... this is what I'm coaching myself with for exam day too... sometimes the right answer is in front of you and you miss it (happens with me all the time!).

I'm doing it Friday morning, God-Willing. I want to revise as much as I can before attempting it.

These days are crazy! 5 days to go and it feels like it's flying by now!!

Just took my NBME 15! I decided to take it a day early as I wasn't getting into review momentum today.

So... NBME 15 is HARD! Yes, it really challenges you. I did 11 but this definitely tougher. I think the stems are longer and I had a hard time focusing and extracting info. Lots of molecular questions - and behavior sciences too. Two pharmacokinetics questions. Typically tested concepts but they were asked in roundabout ways.

I got my score 650... Praise be to God. On the official NBME 15 correlation table, it was a 257. I want to go give the exam now and get my life back!!

Well, I got 15 wrong... but I marked one wrongly by mistake (grrrr... slip of the mouse? :P) so it says 16 wrong. I made two-three silly mistakes which could have been avoided (overthinking a question is not always good!)... but yeah, I'm feeling better and looking forward to getting over with this.

The only materials I used in my prep were:

KLN
U World (69%)
Kaplan Q bank - did not complete it though
FA - from the second read on... a LOT - major, major help!
Ethics by Conrad Fischer

No Goljan, negligible Kaplan DVDs. I think FA+Kaplans+UWorld are definitely enough!

Very honestly though, I'm an average student and again, today, I felt that doing questions in a relaxed but focused away can definitely make a difference. I got a couple of "OMG, What IS this?!" types of questions and tried to stay composed and not lose track.

I now noticed my silly mistakes too... again, not focusing well enough. :\ Sometimes the answer is right there in front of you and you miss it by one keyword! :S

Good luck everyone!!

How do you get to review your performance on nbmes? Like know which questions you got wrong and stuff? I thought you can't see it at all once you're done and it just gives you an overall subject wise graph?

If you pay the extra $10 for the extended feedback version, you get to see the wrongly marked questions... They don't tell you the answers though.
